GIla County Sheriff's Posse - Northern Division

GIla County Sheriff's Posse - Northern Division The Gila County Sheriff’s Posse was formed in 1967 to assist the Sheriff and the people of Gila County. The Posse is a 501c(3) nonprofit volunteer organization.

The Sheriff’s Posse assists the Sheriff’s Office in many law enforcement duties. Among these are patrol, crime scene security, prisoner transport and
security, traffic control, and other ancillary services during disasters. The Posse also provides logistical support to search and rescue missions. The Posse participates in the following types of activities:

Secure crime scenes
Assist Detec

tives
Assist Sheriff’s Deputies and the Department of Public Safety with traffic control
Assist the Forest Service
Assist the Payson Police Department
Assist rural Fire Departments
Maintain road blocks for snow, flood, or fire emergencies
Provide jail transports
Provide control over civil events, security and traffic
Provide personnel for emergency command posts
Assist in Search and Rescue operations
Represent the Sheriff’s Office in parades
Provide assistance to the Sheriff’s Communication Center
Any other support to the Sheriff and Deputies as requested

The north Gila Co. Sheriff Posse main activities are focused in the Gila Co. northern regional area down to about the East-West Line at Roosevelt Dam. North Posse is headquartered and stationed out of Payson & Surrounding Community Satellite Squads. South Posse is headquartered and stationed out of Globe. The current area of duties can be anywhere within Arizona.

Tonto Basin sure knows how to shine! ✨ 🎄

We had the best seat in the house Saturday night helping with traffic control for their annual Light Parade. There is nothing like seeing the entire community line the streets to cheer, laugh, and celebrate together. My favorite part? Seeing all those smiling faces light up as the floats went by!

Making spirits bright! ✨

We are still smiling after our Shop with a Hero event. A massive shoutout to Native Air for going above and beyond—literally! They stepped in to help Santa make a grand entrance by helicopter, ensuring the magic was alive and well even without the snow. ❄️

The joy on these kids' faces says it all. Thank you to our heroes and our community partners for making this possible! 👮‍♂️👩‍🚒🚁

More than just a shopping trip—it’s a memory that lasts a lifetime. 💙🚓

There’s nothing quite like the magic of seeing a child’s face light up as they walk down the toy aisle side-by-side with a local hero. Our Shop with a Hero event This isn’t just about the gifts under the tree; it’s about building bonds, fostering trust, and making sure every child in our community feels seen and supported.

We cannot do this without the communities help and we are so grateful for all the donations to make this event happen! Thank you to Walmart, Gila County Board of Supervisors, Payson Fire Department, Payson Police Department, Life Line Ambulance, Hellsgate Fire Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Tonto Apache Police Department, Pine-Strawberry Fire District, U.S. Forest Service-Tonto National Forest, Gila County Government, Native Air 7, and of course GC sheriff's posse. It was an honor to be able to assist in this event.

Don't miss our monthly meeting this Tuesday, November 4th, to learn all about the Sheriff's Posse and how you can get involved!

This is an amazing group of volunteers who dedicate their time to working alongside the Gila County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) to help keep our community safe. We're not all work, though—we have a lot of fun and participate in great local events too!

📍 Where: The Old Jail (702 McLane Rd) in Payson 🗓️ When: This Tuesday, November 4th (Our meetings are always the first Tuesday of the month!) ⏰ Time: 5:00 PM to learn. Posse Meeting officially starts at 6pm.

Come on down to ask your questions and see what this rewarding volunteer opportunity involves. We're looking forward to seeing you there!
