Dear PUSD Families,
The Payson Unified School District Governing Board met on June 9, 2026, and, following further review and discussion, voted to revise its previous budget decision regarding student transportation for the 2026–2027 school year. Through this action, the Governing Board approved maintaining transportation services and bus routes consistent with those provided during the 2025–2026 school year.

This decision reflects the Board's commitment to carefully considering the needs of students, families, and the community while fulfilling its fiscal responsibilities.

We are proud to announce that on May 29th 2026, Ryland Wala, one of our Payson High School graduates, defended his thesis to earn a PhD in Optical Science from the University of Arizona. Ryland earned his B.S. in Physics from Arizona State University and completed research studies at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratories. Congratulations Ryland! It's great to be a Longhorn!

The completion of the new turf field at Payson High School represents more than just a facility upgrade—it's an investment in our students, athletes, and community for years to come. From Friday night lights to youth programs, community events, and countless memories yet to be made, this field will serve as a gathering place where future Longhorns can grow, compete, and thrive.

This project has been a long time coming, and we're grateful to everyone who helped make it a reality. The future is bright at Payson Unified School District, and we can't wait to see the impact this field will have on generations of students and families.

Wrapping up the year at PES with colorful collaboration projects all about COLOR THEORY!

Our kindergarten artists explored the rainbow, practiced color mixing, and learned about the color wheel. After reading The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, each student created a special dot filled with drawings of things that make them happy, then painted it in their favorite color!

First graders began their journey into color theory as they learned about primary and secondary colors. Each student designed and painted a vibrant feather using either primary or secondary colors to help create our beautiful 1st grade peacock!

Second graders explored warm and cool colors while creating stunning flowers and butterflies. Using crayons, markers, and colored pencils, students carefully designed their artwork using either warm tones or cool tones to make their creations pop!

We are so proud of all the creativity, teamwork, and colorful learning happening in art!

Great job PES art students!
