Congratulations to Probation Officer Wendi Hartman, who has completed her second academy this year. Wendi first competition the Juvenile Probation Academy in January of this year. This last Friday, she graduated from the Misdemeanor Probation Academy as the class Vice President. She is a great asset to our department and we look forward to the positive things she will do to help our community.

Today the Payette County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of former deputy Joseph Wright.
Joe served the Payette County Sheriff’s Office and the Community as both a detention and patrol deputy for four and a half before he left to pursue a career to serve those in need at the Oregon Department of Health and Welfare.
We wish to extend our prayers and condolences to Joe’s family, friends, and former colleagues, brothers, and sisters in blue here at Payette County Sheriff who are also coping with this sudden, unexpected loss.

ATTENTION PAYETTE COUNTY RESIDENTS:

Our Juvenile Work Crew is back up and running. This program allows the community to hire a supervised Crew of juveniles who would be earning money to pay on their fines and fees. This helps to instill a sense of responsibility and ownership in the juveniles who are working their community based rehabilitation program.

We were excited to day to be a part of the field trip from Payette Primary's students coming to learn about the courts and the Payette County Sheriff's Office. Students were able to learn about the jail and patrol from the Payette County Sheriff's Deputies and our office took part in the courtroom with our District Court Judge.

This week is National Police Week. During this week officers who have fallen in the service to their communities are honored. This year, Ada County Deputy Tobin Bolter's name is added to the wall in Washington DC.

Since 1883, Idaho has lost 87 officers on duty. From Payette County, Officer Morley Cannon of the Fruitland Police Department (05/11/1969) and Ronald W. Fender (01/20/1994) are among them. We also honor Linda Huff of the Idao State Police (06/17/1998).

Congratulations Officer Cochran.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Corby Cochran for completing the 14 week POST Academy training. Officer Cochran is pictured with Captain Yates at his POST Academy Graduation which took place on Friday, April 11th. Officer Cochran's grandfather, Les Cochran was the Police Chief for Payette Police Department September 1990 until October of 2005 and couldn't be prouder his grandson is following in his footsteps. Congratulations on all your hard work Officer Cochran.
