For more than 70 years, Suzanne Poole’s connection to the Red Cross has been rooted in helping others, first as a blood donor, then as a blood drive volunteer and, along the way, inspiring the next generation of her family to serve.

Recently, at 92 years young, Suzanne was once again lending a hand, this time alongside her daughter, Lyn Hruska, Executive Director of the Central Illinois Chapter, as Red Cross volunteers distributed emergency cleanup supplies to families in Paxton, IL who were impacted by severe storms.

Suzanne summed up her remarkable Red Cross journey beautifully:

“I’ve given a lot to the Red Cross over the years. I’ve given my blood, I’ve given my time, but the most important thing I think I’ve given them is a good person to do their business.”

That “good person” is her daughter. ❤️

Shower and thunderstorm chances will increase this afternoon and evening. An isolated stronger storm can't be ruled out. Would not be surprised to see some funnel cloud reports around the area as well due to the proximity of the low passing through. More of the same tomorrow!
