Our thoughts are with the Champaign Police Department as well as the family and friends of Officer Christopher Oberheim today.๐Ÿ’™

On May 19, 2021 - five years ago now - Officer Christopher Oberheim was killed in the line of duty. He was a dedicated family man and a good cop, and his passing greatly impacted people across multiple local communities. In the days, weeks, months, and years that have followed, we have continued to lift up our teammates, forged new connections with our community, and carried on his legacy of dedication.

His duty was to serve. Ours is to remember. #703

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Peace Officers Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day. This day, which falls during National Police Week, is set aside to honor law enforcement officers for their constant hard work and dedication and a time to pay remembrance to fallen officers.

Today, the Paxton Police Department proudly joins communities across our nation in honoring the brave law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Peace Officers Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that freedom, safety, and order in our communities have been preserved through the dedication and sacrifice of men and women who answered the call to serve.

We ask our community to join us in reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for all peace officers who gave everything for the safety of others.

May those officers always be remembered and never forgotten.

๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’™ National Police Week 2026 ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš”

During National Police Week, the Paxton Police Department proudly recognizes and honors the brave men and women in law enforcement who serve their communities with courage, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.

Every day, officers across this nation put on the badge knowing the risks, sacrifices, and responsibilities that come with protecting others. They answer calls at all hours, face dangerous and unpredictable situations, and remain committed to serving their communities.

This week also serves as a solemn reminder to honor the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We also recognize the families, friends, and fellow officers who carry their memory forward every day.

For Paxton, we especially remember Officer William O. Caisse, who gave his life in the line of duty on April 7, 1979. His courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and he remains forever memorialized within the Paxton Police Department.

As we honor Officer Caisse and all fallen officers, we also extend our deepest gratitude to the men and women currently serving in law enforcement here in our community and across the nation. Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to keeping our communities safe. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for all that you do.

Please join us this National Police Week in honoring the fallen, supporting the living, and remembering those who gave everything. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’™
