🚒 Exciting News, Paxton! 🚒

We’re thrilled to announce that a brand new Engine/Tanker is officially in the works for your Paxton Fire Department! 🔥

This new apparatus is being custom-built to help us better serve our community — giving us more water on scene, improved pumping capability, and updated safety features for our firefighters. Every detail is being designed with our town and surrounding areas in mind.

We can’t wait to share updates and photos throughout the build process — stay tuned for sneak peeks as our new rig comes to life! 👀

🔥 BURN BAN REMINDER – FORD COUNTY 🔥

Ford County remains under a burn ban due to ongoing dry conditions and high fire risk.

🚫 This means no outdoor burning is allowed until further notice, including:
• Brush, leaves, and yard waste
• Campfires or bonfires
• Fire pits, burn barrels, or any open flame devices

✅ Exceptions:
• Gas or charcoal grills may be used if attended and operated safely.

Violations of this ban may result in fines or penalties. Please help us keep our community safe by following this order.

🔥 LIVE FIRE TRAINING 🔥

This weekend, your Paxton Fire Department hosted a live house fire training! These trainings are invaluable for sharpening our skills and ensuring we’re ready to answer the call when our community needs us most.

Throughout the day, our firefighters completed multiple evolutions inside the structure to prepare for emergencies.

We were also proud to train alongside our mutual aid partners:

🚒 Gibson City Fire Department

🚫🔥 COUNTY-WIDE BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥🚫

Due to the dry conditions, our county has been placed under a burn ban effective immediately. This means:
❌ No brush burning
❌ No bonfires
❌ No barrel burning
❌ No “it’s just a small fire, I’ll watch it”

Please remember — one spark is all it takes to turn into something much bigger. A burn ban isn’t just a suggestion, it’s about keeping our community, property, and firefighters safe.

You can still fire up the grill or enjoy a safe, controlled campfire alternative.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us prevent vegetation fires during this dry stretch.

🇺🇸 We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001.
A day that forever changed our nation.

We honor the 2,977 lives lost, including the 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while rushing in to save others. Their courage, bravery, and dedication to duty will never be forgotten.

As we reflect, we also remember the families forever affected, the survivors, and the countless first responders who have since faced health challenges from that tragic day.

May we carry forward their legacy of service, sacrifice, and unity.

The annual 9/11 Memorial Ride yesterday was a huge success! ❤️🤍💙

A big thank you goes out to all of our amazing volunteers who helped set up, cook, and keep everything running smoothly—we couldn’t have done it without you!

🚨🇺🇸 TODAY IS THE DAY, PAXTON! 🇺🇸🚨

We are honored to welcome the annual 9/11 Memorial Ride into town today around 12:00 PM.

We encourage our community to line the streets, wave, and cheer on the riders as they arrive. This ride is a powerful tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, and a reminder that we will never forget.

Let’s show these riders — and the memory of those we lost — the support and respect they deserve. ❤️🤍💙

🚒🔥 FLEET FRIDAY – Meet 329 “Big Wheels” 🔥🚒

Today’s feature is one of the most unique rigs in our fleet – 329, affectionately known as “Big Wheels.”

Originally built as a farm sprayer, this machine has been converted into a field fire truck that plays a huge role in protecting our community. With its massive stance and wide tires, Big Wheels can go places most of our other trucks can’t.

💧 Capacity: 1,600 gallons of water – making it a powerhouse for tackling large field fires across our rural area.
🌾 Purpose: Built for off-road response in farm fields and tough terrain.
👨‍🚒 Fun Fact: Its farm sprayer roots make it one of the most unique firefighting vehicles around!

Big Wheels might look a little different than our traditional trucks, but when the fields light up, this beast proves why it’s a vital part of the Paxton Fire Department.

🚒 FLEET FRIDAY 🚒

This week we’re highlighting Command 320!

320 is a 2014 Ford F-350 that serves as our command vehicle. It’s most often driven by the Chief or one of our officers and is a key part of how we manage emergency scenes.

💨 In the bed, you’ll find air bottles for our firefighters and cases of water for rehab to keep our crews safe and hydrated.

🛠️ The side compartments hold a variety of tools we may need while on scene, making 320 a versatile and reliable resource for our department.

Command 320 helps us stay organized, equipped, and ready to respond when our community needs us most! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒
