Welcome back to Mental Health Minutes! 🎙️💭

“What is a diagnosis?”

A diagnosis is simply a clinical way of identifying a group of symptoms and experiences. It can help guide treatment, provide clarity, and connect people to support.

Understanding mental health starts with understanding the language around it. 💚🧠

BVAC was proud to be a part of Advocacy Day alongside RICADV and SOAR yesterday at the RI State House, where we spoke with House representatives about the Survivor Early Lease Termination Act.

This legislation would allow survivors of DV to safely leave a lease early without risking fines or eviction, while also protecting their confidential information. In the midst of a housing and economic crisis, survivors deserve every possible pathway to safety, stability, and healing. 💜

We’re grateful to stand with advocates and legislators working to ensure survivors are not forced to choose between danger and housing insecurity. 💜

Introducing Mental Health Minutes 🎙️🩵

In this new series, we’re sitting down with our Director of Mental Health Services, Phillip Lowry, to talk about counseling, healing, and what support can really look like.

For many people, starting therapy can feel intimidating— especially if you don’t know what to expect. Through these conversations, we hope to break down stigma, answer common questions, and make mental health support feel a little more approachable.

Healing looks different for everyone, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. 🩵
