We are so excited to purchase these new radios, and it’s all thanks to you!!!
This years Steam Engine Show Booth proceeds was enlotted for EMS and made +/- $5000. This year we opted to apply that to help replace several of our old Motorola handheld radios that we assign to our EMS members. Some of the equipment we are using is well past its life expectancy and has effectively reached the Motorola “end of life” time frame and are having problems.
Each of these radios cost very close to $1000 on State Contract bids, we are slowly moving to P25 compliant radios that are designed for public service / emergency services use, which cost more. Now, if you’re counting there are 10 radios in the picture, the math isn’t adding up, here’s why.
Shortly after the Steam Engine Show, a family came in to City Hall to speak with us about a donation, they were very happy with the service our Ambulance crews provided to them in their time of need, several times, and they wanted to make a donation. After talking with them, they decided to match the $5000 and help us double our radio order. This donation was a private donation from a family and we want to say a heartfelt Thank You.
And with the combined money we were able to purchase 10 new Kenwood P25 compliant DMR/Analog handheld radios and upgrade some equipment. What’s awesome is no tax payer funds were used, so our already stretched budget was not affected.

Thank you Pawnee for your continued support of the Pawnee Volunteer Ambulance Service. We are one of the few Volunteer Ambulance Services left in the State of Oklahoma.

We are excited to announce the hiring of a FULL-TIME Code Enforcement Officer!

Jimmy Steele will be serving the community as our code enforcement officer. Jimmy is a certified code enforcement officer through the Oklahoma Code Enforcement Association. Jimmy is also a CLEET certified law enforcement officer with a commission through the Pawnee County Sheriff Office. He holds an Emergency Medical Responder License and serves on the Pawnee Ambulance Service. He is a retired firefighter with the City of Pawnee Fire Department and currently volunteers and mentors with the department.

When code enforcement is effectively carried out in a community, you help maintain property values, boost economic development, improve quality of life and ensure residents live and work in a safe environment.

The primary job duties of the code enforcement officer include:

Inspecting properties to enforce regulations and codes.

Responding to complaints about violations and issuing citations and warnings.

Working with property owners to address issues and ensure compliance.

Maintaining detailed records of inspections and enforcement actions.

Providing education about regulations to the public.

Attending court preceedings related to code violations.

Patrolling areas searching for illegally parked and abandoned vehicles.

We are thrilled to have a full-time code enforcement officer to serve as the communities' first line of defense for addressing deteriorating homes, vacant properties and neighborhood decline.

Recently your Medical Officer Michael McCowen and Firefighter Russell Sentel traveled to Orlando, FL to conduct the final inspection for the new ambulance built for the City of Pawnee. The trip was all expenses paid by Banner Fire Equipment.

This ambulance was designed and purchased by the previous EMS Director with the help match funds from a grant that was done in 2021. We are excited to receive this new apparatus and look forward to its delivery to our station within the coming weeks.

Pictured below are your Medical Officer/Deputy EMS Director Michael McCowen Firefighter Russel Sentel with Jason Wyatt with Banner Fire Equipment.

Pictures of the new apparatus are soon to come when the ambulance is complete. Stay tuned!

We still have a few things left to do but our day room is ready for use.
A donated sectional, coffee table and tv currently. We have a gaming box being donated so the guys/gals can do more than just watch tv.

We plan on adding another couch and an end table or 2 to make it more like home.

Our remodel may be taking longer than planned but we are doing everything ourselves to help save our budget.

Thank you Pawnee for your continued support of the Pawnee Volunteer EMS Service
