Community Health Updates
New Alzheimer’s Support Group in Castleton
In response to our successful Alzheimer’s Support Group in Rutland, Community Health had added a second support group meeting in Castleton every other month on the 3rd Tuesday at Community Health Castleton, 275 Route 30 North, Bomoseen, Vermont.
The August 18th meeting begins at 4pm and caregivers and family members are invited to share feelings, thoughts and experiences.
The support group meeting in Rutland, a valuable resource for caregivers, meets monthly on the 2nd Tuesday at 4pm at Community Health North Main, 231 North Main St, Rutland.

Community Health Tip: Vaccine Check
It’s a good time to check with your Community Health primary care provider or pediatrician about vaccines and which ones you and your family need to update.
Vaccines aren’t just for children. Seniors should ask about shingles, tetanus, flu, covid and pneumonia vaccines.

Community Health Tip – Know How to Do a Tick Check Because Tick Season is HERE!
The best way to prevent tickborne diseases is to avoid places where ticks hang out, wear an effective repellent and do a body check after being outdoors.
In Vermont, the most tickborne illnesses occur between early spring and late fall, when blacklegged ticks are active.
Protect yourself. Do a body check. Carefully remove any ticks. Watch for symptoms of tickborne illnesses and contact your Community Health provider if you develop any symptoms. Tell your provider about a recent tick bite, when it occurred, and your outdoor activities. Some tick bite illnesses can be treated with a short course of antibiotics. Most people who begin treatment early on fully recover.

Did you know?
Maple trees in the area may be dropping leaves earlier than usual and without the brilliant coloring we enjoy every fall due to stressors like the drought conditions we experienced in early spring. Experts say those trees will likely recover next season.

The next roast pork dinner is Saturday, September 5th at the Pawlet Community Church. Indoor seating starts at 4:30. We welcome everyone, whether you’d like to dine indoors and visit with old friends or order take out. Please call ahead to place any orders to-go at 802-325-3022. Pick up any time after 4:30. The church is located at 38 VT Rt 133 in Pawlet, VT. Please tell your friends, we very much appreciate your support!
Menu includes:
Roast Pork baked with our famous topping
Stuffing
Mashed potatoes with gravy
Hot vegetables
Cabbage Salad
Applesauce
Fruited jello
Rolls/butter
Hot and cold beverages

The Library Board generally meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. – except when that conflicts with Selectboard meetings, shifting the meeting to the second Tuesday of the month in those cases. The meetings are open to the public; please contact the library for more information on how to join the meeting at 325-3123.
