The Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department responds 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to fires and other emergencies in Pawlet. We also assist the fire departments of other surrounding communities through a system of mutual aid, enhancing preparedness throughout the region. Our department is one of nine fire departments in Vermont dispatched by the Washington County Department of Public Safety. We are an

all-volunteer outfit, comprised entirely of citizens of our town who donate their time without compensation. The Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, financed in part by taxes allocated by the town, in part by fundraising events, and in part by the generous donations of individuals and businesses in our region.

Last night Pawlet firefighters joined Arlington, West Pawlet, Rupert and Manchester in Dorset for a mutual aid drill at the JK Adams facility. While tankers drilled on large-scale water supply, we burned a stack of pallets the company wished to discard, and practiced with Manchester's tower ladder, which afforded the best view in town. Our thanks to Dorset Fire Department for hosting this valuable exercise.

Pawlet and West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. responded to a report of a motor vehicle incident on VT-133 in the vicinity of the Herrick Brook Road this afternoon. Responding firefighters found a two-vehicle motor incident with no serious injuries. Firefighters moved the vehicles and debris from the roadway and the drivers were evaluated by Granville Rescue Squad, Inc.. Our thanks to Pawlet Constable for assisting at this scene.

Pawlet firefighters have done two runs in the last 24 hours. Yesterday shortly before 3pm, Pawlet and West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. firefighters were dispatched to a residential smoke alarm activation in West Pawlet village. The first arriving West Pawlet units found no hazard. This morning Pawlet and West Pawlet firefighters were summoned for a motor vehicle incident with unknown injuries on Robinson Hill Road. Arriving Pawlet units found a vehicle in the ditch with no injuries or property damage. All apparatus returned while a chief officer remained to turn the scene over to Vermont State Police.

Pawlet and West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. firefighters were dispatched to a report of a tree on wires burning on the Rupert Hill Road. Firefighters located the fire and determined it posed no immediate hazard. The incident was referred to Green Mountain Power.

Pawlet firefighters responded to a request for manpower to assist Manchester Fire Department VT with a rescue at the Lye Brook Falls. Firefighters from Pawlet, Manchester, and numerous other local fire agencies and a technical rescue team from City of Rutland Fire Department successfully transported the patient from the falls to awaiting Northshire Rescue and LifeNet medics at the trailhead, a distance of 2.3 miles over challenging terrain.

Pawlet and West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. firefighters responded to an automated fire alarm activation at the Town Hall at 6am this morning. Firefighters determined the cause to be a malfunction and reset the system.

Wow, we sold all the chicken we could fit on the barbecue pit by 1pm! Thank you to everyone who came out and made our revival of the chicken barbecue such a success. We would like to extend a very special thanks to the Morning Flower Lodge for their assistance running the event, to the Pawlet Constable for their help with traffic, and to the Rekindle Pawlet Spirit group for organizing their wonderful tractor parade and for the coolest wagon ride you could ask for!

It's a beautiful day and the chicken BBQ starts at noon! The event runs to 4pm today, with chicken, corn, coleslaw, and watermelon, all for $12. Pickup or dine in!

Additional parking is available up at the Herrick Brook Road, and a tractor-drawn wagon will be providing a free shuttle all day. Hope to see you at the firehouse!

Pawlet and West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. firefighters responded to a automated fire alarm activation at a residence on the Rupert Hill Road this afternoon. Arriving firefighters found a smoke condition in the residence. Upon entering they determined the cause to be food mistakenly left unattended on the stove. Firefighters ventilated the residence to remove the smoke.
