Hi Pawhuskans! Summer Reading continued this week at the Community Center at 12:45 pm! Over 40 kids plus their parents attended the program "Get Ready for the Fourth of July," presented by Miss Alice and Miss Yvonne. Kids listened to stories, learned facts about America, participated in several games, and received sparkly necklaces and glow sticks for the 4th of July.

Next week's Summer Reading Program, Wed. July 9 at 12:45 pm, will be a "Dinosaur Rodeo" presented by Mad Science of Oklahoma. Mad Science always does a great program, so come and have some Dino Fun!

And...remember your Reading Rewards! Kids, read & list 10 books on your Book Log, and receive a $5 Gift Certificate! The Library currently has GC's from Dollar General, Family Dollar, Harp's, and Sonic. Availability is first come, first choice until gone. Please present Book Logs at the Library, if possible, by July 22. All Reading Logs and Reading Rewards will conclude July 31.

Summer Reading kids & parents experienced two wonderful Summer Reading Programs last week! Wednesday 6/24 at 12:45 Joe the Balloon Man (Joe Coover from OKC) kept 60 kids laughing and squealing as they learned how to make shapes from balloons. And Thursday 6/25 at 6:00 pm Capstone the Magician (Chris Capstone, Tulsa) kept 46 kids & parents guessing how he did those magic tricks. Kids had fun being Capstone's helpers.

Our next program is Wednesday July 1 at 12:45 - 1:45 pm at the Pawhuska Community Center. We will be "Getting Ready for the 4th of July" with librarians Miss Alice and Miss Yvonne.

And, remember the annual Fourth of July Freedom Parade on Pawhuska's Main Street. Dress yourself, your bike or scooter, and your pets in red, white, & blue and BE THERE at 9:30 am. And have some apple pie afterwards.

MAGIC SHOW this THURSDAY, 6:00 - 7:00 PM! Pawhuskans, the annual Library Summer Reading MAGIC SHOW will take place Thursday at the COMMUNITY CENTER with Capstone the Magician. Last year both kids and adults had such fun with Chris Capstone's magic - so the Magic Show has moved to 6:00 - 7:00 pm to allow more families to attend.
And try to match wits with Capstone as he performs his magic!???

Hi Pawhuskans! Afternoon Library Summer Reading continues at the Pawhuska Community Center Wednesday, June 24 at 12:45 - 1:45 pm. This week's program features Joe the Balloon Man from Oklahoma City. Ever wonder how those long, skinny balloons become animals and other shapes? Joe will be here to show us how!
Remember Reading Rewards! Kids, read 10 books & receive a $5 gift certificate. Read at your age/reading level. All books check out & in at Pawhuska Library, 1801 Lynn Avenue. Library hours are 9:30 am - 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

Hi Pawhuskans! Our thanks for the GREAT response to our first 12:45 Library Summer Reading Program at the Pawhuska Community Center! The Science of Fireworks program by Discovery Lab Tulsa was enthusiastically attended by 86 kids, parents, grandparents, & caregivers! Miss Claire from Discovery Lab demonstrated that different chemical salts are used to color fireworks. Next each child (wearing safety goggles) received 1/2 an Alka-Seltzer tablet, a tiny plastic container, and a bit of water. The foaming Alka-Seltzer quickly blew the little containers high in the air with many POPS and BANGS! Shrieks and giggles erupted throughout the room as kids watched THEIR "firework" take flight.
Our thanks to Discovery Lab and Miss Claire for a very fun program.
