Meet us at Pioneer Cemetery from 11 am-noon on Wednesday,July 8 to see Steve Rigoni reprise his role as William Dyckman, an early Paw Paw settler and Revolutionary War veteran. Dyckman was only fourteen when he volunteered for the Westchester Guides, a group of young men who acted as guides during the American Revolution. Though he grew up in New York, Dyckman and his wife followed his son, Evert, to Paw Paw after he entered into a partnership with Isaac Willard and Peter Gremps to operate a grist-mill.

We will also look at the cemetery’s history and discuss some of the other early settlers who were buried there.

A lot has changed in 36 years, but the story is the same: kids love bubbles AND Paw Paw District Library’s Summer Reading Program! Just 10 days into this year’s program, 479 people have signed up and read for 1,332 hours!

On August 4, voters will be asked to renew the library’s existing operating millage, which provides about half of the funding needed to maintain current services, including books, technology, and programs for all ages.

The Paw Paw District Library Local History room has recently finished digitizing the Paw Paw High School Athletics Collection.

This collection contains just under 90 images of Paw Paw High School sports teams, primarily in the 1950s-60s. These photos were taken for the Paw Paw Wappaw Yearbook. Many students have been identified by name, but there are still many unnamed students pictured. Let us know if you recognize any faces!

The entire digitized collection can be viewed here: https://pawpawlocalhistory.omeka.net/collections/show/10
