La Jolla Environmental Protection Office Protecting the Health of the People and the Environment of the La Jolla Indian Reservation

The La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians established the Environmental Protection Office (EPO) in 1999 with the intent to work on water resource and water quality concerns. Over the years the EPO has implemented many successful programs and accomplished many important tasks. The Environmental Director is the primary responsible person in charge of environmental protection on the Reservation. Assisted

by the Environmental Manager, together they oversee all programs and staff within the EPO. The Environmental Director reports directly to the Tribal Chairperson.

Intertribal Earth Day 2026 was a true success, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.
With over 600 attendees, 55 booths, and a delicious pit BBQ meal and sides shared with the community, the day was filled with community, learning, and celebration.
This year’s theme, One Earth, Many Nations, was reflected throughout the day as people came together to share, connect, and celebrate our shared responsibility to care for the Earth.
We want to give a special thank you to everyone who helped plan, prepare, organize, and support this event from beginning to end. So much hard work happens behind the scenes, and we truly appreciate all of the time, care, and effort that made this day possible.
We also want to sincerely thank our many donors and sponsors, extend our gratitude to Tribal Leadership, and recognize all of the booth hosts, organizations, agencies, tribal programs, and community partners who helped make the event such a meaningful experience.
Most of all, thank you to the many attendees we hold this event for — to bring people together, to share, and to inspire care for our Earth and for one another.
This year was a success, and we look forward to improving and growing the event even more next year.
We hope you enjoy this look back at Intertribal Earth Day 2026, and we thank you again for being part of such a meaningful day.
