Flags of Honor, a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served in the United States military, is thrilled to congratulate Don Bankston of Mustang, Oklahoma on his generous winning bid in the organization's recent silent auction. Bankston's bid will play a crucial role in helping Flags of Honor achieve their goal of purchasing 950 high-quality 2x3 foot American flags for their next grand flag display event - a patriotic showcase that will stand as a powerful tribute to America's heroic veterans. Flags of Honor organizes these large-scale flag displays as a way to visually demonstrate the sheer number of individuals who have sacrificed to protect our nation's freedom, with each flag representing a single service member. By securing Bankston's support through this successful auction, the organization will be able to expand the scope and impact of their upcoming event, ensuring that an even greater number of flags can be proudly presented to honor the service and sacrifice of our country's brave veterans. Flags of Honor is deeply grateful for Bankston's generosity, which will allow them to continue their meaningful mission of commemorating the selflessness of those who have worn the uniform in defense of the United States.

On this Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country, both those currently deployed and those who have returned home, as well as those who made the ultimate sacrifice. While their sacrifices can never be fully repaid, we pledge to honor their memory and service for generations to come.

Flags of Honor proudly congratulates young Hunter Martinez on winning the recent Patriot Pen drawing. At just 12 years old, Hunter has already demonstrated a deep commitment to honoring and supporting our nation's veterans. Last Saturday, Hunter joined his younger brother and grandparents in volunteering with Flags of Honor to place American flags throughout Mt. Olivet Cemetery, a solemn tradition held each year to pay tribute to the brave men and women who sacrificed so much in service of their country. Flags of Honor eagerly anticipates Hunter's participation in the next event, confident that his passion for honoring our nation's heroes will only continue to grow.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers who contributed to the Flags of Honor initiative today. Collectively, we planted 967 flags in tribute to our veterans and replaced two 3x5 flags in preparation for Veterans Day. This significant undertaking would not have been possible without your support. Additionally, we appreciate Buddy Turner from SamJot Creations for his assistance and generous donation of pens for this cause.

On October 19th, 2024, a meaningful event will take place at the local cemetery, as volunteers come together to place over 950 stick flags in honor of those who have served our country. The flags will be neatly arranged and displayed, creating a powerful visual representation of the sacrifices made by the men and women of our armed forces. Participants will gather at the pavilion on the east end of the cemetery at 10:00 A.M., where complimentary water, coffee, and donuts will be provided to fuel their efforts. This annual tradition is a cherished way for the community to come together, pay respects, and express gratitude for the brave individuals who have defended our freedoms.

In addition to the flag placement, a special fundraising opportunity will be available through SamJot Creations. This local artisan has crafted a collection of "Flags of Honor" pens, which will be auctioned off in a silent auction format. Those interested in bidding can submit their offers via messenger, and the highest bidder will either receive the pen hand-delivered or have it mailed to their provided address, depending on their location. The auction will conclude on November 8th at 12:01 P.M., with all proceeds going towards supporting this meaningful program. This unique offering allows community members to not only participate in the flag placement, but also take home a custom-made keepsake that will serve as a lasting reminder of their contribution to honoring our veterans. With the combined efforts of dedicated volunteers and the generosity of the community, this event promises to be a poignant and impactful way to pay tribute to those who have served our nation with unwavering courage and dedication.

As the community of Pauls Valley eagerly anticipates the upcoming Veterans Day celebration, plans are well underway to honor our brave service members with a meaningful display of patriotism. In the coming days, the organizers will be finalizing the order for the flags that will line the cemetery, a visual representation of our deep gratitude and respect for those who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms. On October 19th, 2024, volunteers from across the area will gather together to reverently place each flag, ensuring that every veteran is memorialized with the dignity they deserve. Unfortunately, we have been unable to raise enough money in time to purchase the flags for the 4th of July. However, we are still striving towards our goal for the Flags Forward initiative for Veterans Day and are collecting donations to make it happen. Currently, we are $800.00 short of our goal and we would like to thank those who have already donated. Your contributions are slowly but surely helping us get closer to our goal. As a result of not reaching our goal in time, the Flags Forward event on Tuesday will be cancelled. We will announce a new event date for Veterans Day as it gets closer to November. In the meantime, we will continue to beautify the gravesites and would greatly appreciate any additional help. If you are interested in volunteering, we will announce dates for when you can join us. Additionally, if you know a Veteran in the Pauls Valley area who needs their flag replaced, please let us know and we will gladly come and take down the tattered flag and replace it free of charge. Thank you all for your support and contributions so far, they are greatly appreciated.

Flags of Honor is on a mission to honor our nation's heroes. As a non-profit volunteer program in association with the American Legion, this dedicated team places the American flag at the resting places of veterans on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. But our work doesn't stop there - we take immense pride in meticulously maintaining the headstones and grounds to honor the memory of those who have passed. Apon request, we will also visit veterans' homes annually in the Pauls Valley area to respectfully replace any torn or weathered flags free. Currently there is close to 900 veterans laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Donations of 12“ x 18” stick U.S Flags or cleaning materials are greatlt appreciated. If you’d like to make a monetary donation, you can donate here. Thank you.
