Fact check: When compared to other stadiums, you need the full picture of what’s included. Royal’s proposed stadium is a brand-new, district-wide facility on fresh land next to the future high school. It’s built for soccer, band, cheer, track/field, football, dance, color guard, graduations, and community events. Compare that to:
• Aldine, La Porte, & Lufkin - replacements on the exact same sites, with existing parking, grading, utilities, infrastructure, and footprints that save millions.
• Willis - also new land, and its $68.8M price tag puts it right next to Royal after inflation adjustments
Statewide, new multi-use or greenfield stadiums in growing areas routinely hit $9,000–$12,000+ per seat (or higher) after inflation adjustment. With higher inflation factors, Royal lands in the same ballpark as the other full-new-site projects while delivering far more multi-use value. Texas high-school stadiums are expensive, but Royal’s is a forward-looking investment, not a patch on an old facility.
