Chief Garrett Grogan reports that the Patterson Police Department responded to 9 calls for service over the last 48 hours and made the following arrest(s):

Freddie Sellers, 36, Morgan City, La, was arrested on September 3, 2026, at 7:24am, on the charges of failure to yield to emergency vehicles, operating a vehicle while license suspended, no insurance, and switched license plate. Sellers was booked, processed, and released to appear in Mayor's Court.

Lloyjasia Humphrey, 30, Morgan City, La, was arrested on August 1, 2026, at 11:55pm, on the charge of improper display of license plate and operating a vehicle while license suspended. Humphrey was released to appear in Mayor's Court.

Parents and Community Members,
Sheriff Gary Driskell and our Investigations Division want to bring your attention to a concerning social media trend circulating nationwide, often referred to as the "𝗖𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝘁" posts. This trend involves images of the Cat in the Hat paired with vague or specific threats directed at schools.
𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙬𝙞𝙙𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙤𝙖𝙭𝙚𝙨, but unfortunately, some local adolescents are seeing them and thinking it is funny to share, repost, or create their own versions.
𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙙: 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚, 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮.
We need to be absolutely clear about the legal realities of this trend. Making, sharing, or reposting threats to a school is not a game, and it is not a joke. 𝙄𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙚. Students who participate in this can face severe legal consequences, including charges, as well as immediate disciplinary action from the school system.
Parents, we need your help. Please sit down and have a serious conversation with your kids today. Warn them about the dangers of sharing these types of posts, even if they think they are just being funny.
It might seem like a harmless joke on a screen, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘶𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘭𝘢𝘸 𝘦𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘳.
