CITY OF PATERSON: TRAFFIC ADVISORY FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

The ramp from Route 20 Southbound to I-80 Westbound will be closed overnight for concrete slab repairs.

Start: Friday, September 11, 2026 at 10:00 PM
End: Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 5:00 AM

What to Expect:
Ramp closure: Route 20 SB → I-80 WB
Detour: Follow the posted detour
Traffic: Moderate delays are expected


Route 20 southbound ramp to I-80 westbound PRIMARY Detour:
Motorists on Route 20 southbound/McLean Boulevard wishing to take the ramp onto I-80 westbound will be directed to take the ramp to Market Street/Paterson
Continue on Market Street
Turn left onto Madison Avenue
Take the ramp onto I-80 westbound

Route 20 southbound ramp to I-80 westbound SECONDARY Detour:
Motorists on Route 20 southbound/McLean Boulevard wishing to take the ramp onto I-80 westbound that miss the primary detour will be directed to take the on-ramp to I-80 eastbound
Take Exit 61/CR 507/Garfield/Elmwood Park
Turn left onto River Drive/CR 507 northbound
Turn left onto Market Street
After crossing the river, stay left to take the ramp to I-80 westbound

The work is part of a state-funded maintenance project to repair concrete structures and improve roadway safety, rideability, and long-term service life.

Please allow extra travel time and follow all posted detour signs.

Please review the Clean Sweep calendar for September with specific dates and locations (schedule subject to change).

Residents are kindly asked to move their vehicles before 8 AM, and follow all posted signage during the scheduled cleanups.
