Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children Oasis is a non-profit organization in Paterson, NJ, whose mission is to change the lives of women and children by breaking the cycle of poverty.

Oasis opened its doors in 1997 to service an unmet need. At that time, women and children living in poverty in Paterson, New Jersey did not have access to a soup kitchen for a daily hot meal. As a result, the founders rented space in a local church on main Street and began providing meals to hungry women and children in the community. Over the years, our programs and services grew to include liter

acy, language and workforce development skills. GED, ESL and Computer Training classes were added, as well as support services including clothing distribution, food pantry, child care, an after-school mentoring program and summer camp program for at risk youth in the community.

Jennie is our incredible Social Service Manager and has been a valued part of Oasis for 10 years. Throughout her time here, she has been dedicated to offering guidance, compassion, and care to those that visit Oasis.

When asked what she enjoys most about working at Oasis, Jennie shared that she loves being able to provide direct services to people and make a meaningful difference in their lives every day.
