With 40 years of dedicated service as an active firefighter in the Patchogue Fire Department, Iโve had the honor of serving our community both on the front lines and as a leader. During my ten years as a Fire District Commissioner (2003โ2007 and 2013โ2017), including four years as Chairman of the Board, I worked hard to strengthen our departmentโs resources and safety. Some of the projects Iโm most proud of include leading the purchase of our first new Fire/Rescue Boat and forming the Water Rescue Team, supervising the rebuilding of our flooded Headquarters Rec Room, installing new backup generators for both Headquarters and Van Guard Firehouses, and remodeling both kitchens. I also helped refurbish Firemenโs Park after Superstorm Sandy, secured a commercial PPE washer and drying system to protect our firefighters, oversaw the purchase of five Class A Fire Engines and several Chiefsโ vehicles, and helped acquire property to prepare for future station upgrades. Beyond the fire service, Iโve served 13 years on the Village of Patchogue Planning Board, working to support responsible growth in our community.
Looking ahead, my vision is focused on progress and partnership. I plan to solidify plans for both new firehouses, resume workshops between Chiefs and Commissioners, and find the best candidate for District Manager with clear responsibilities and priorities. I will also work to strengthen our purchasing system and establish a fair fine system for frequent false alarm offenders. Together, we can continue building a stronger, safer, and more efficient Patchogue Fire District.
