🏃‍♂️🐝 The 2026 Licking Heights Hornets 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk is quickly approaching, and we need your help to make this year’s event another great success!

Join us on Sunday, August 2, for this exciting community event that supports Licking Heights students in music and sports programs. Participants of all ages and experience levels are welcome, whether you are running, walking, or cheering others on! 💙

Community members have shared how much they enjoy seeing so many Hornets come together to support one another. This year’s participants will receive a race shirt, medal, ice cream, Krueger’s cookies, and, of course, bananas - a 5K essential! 🍌👏 There will also be a 50/50 raffle featuring prizes from local supporters.

We are also looking for additional volunteers to help support the event.

🎓🔧 Earlier this year, Mr. Joe Cahill and Ms. Leppla from The Academy at Licking Heights High School learned about an automotive pre-apprenticeship opportunity through Jama Cobb at the Educational Service Center (ESC). After sharing the opportunity with students, Academy junior Aayush Bhattarai took the initiative to apply and commit himself fully to the program.

For eight weeks, Aayush traveled to West Broad Street every Monday and Wednesday to participate in the hands-on pre-apprenticeship experience. His hard work, dedication, and determination paid off as he officially graduated from the program this week! 👏

Mr. Cahill and Ms. Leppla surprised Aayush at the ceremony to celebrate his accomplishment and support him on this exciting achievement.

We are incredibly proud of Aayush for taking advantage of this opportunity and continuing to build skills for his future success! 💙

🏃‍♀️💙 Lima Ridge Elementary’s Girls on the Run team joined teams from across Central Ohio for the Girls on the Run 5K on May 17!

Our girls did an amazing job, and we are so proud of the hard work, confidence and determination they showed throughout the season and on race day. 👏 What an incredible accomplishment and memorable experience for this team!

🎓✨ Kindergarten Graduation 2026!

Our kindergarten students officially wrapped up an incredible year of learning, growth, and unforgettable memories as they celebrated graduation! From making new friends to learning new skills, these young Hornets accomplished so much during their school year experience. 💙

We are so proud of all they have achieved and cannot wait to see them continue to grow and shine in first grade. Congratulations! 👏

🏀⚽ The Middle School Physical Education Department organized two exciting tournaments to promote positive behavior throughout the month of May!

Students competed in the Hornet Hardwood Classic basketball tournament and the Hornet Champions Cup soccer tournament.

Congratulations to all of our winning teams, and thank you to the students and staff who helped make these events such a fun and positive experience! 💙🧡

🎓👏 We are incredibly proud to celebrate two of our graduating seniors, Hawanatu Kabia and Rebekah Ebissa, who earned both their high school diplomas and associate degrees from Columbus State Community College!

Hawanatu earned her degree in Human Nutrition and will continue her studies at The Ohio State University this fall. She hopes to work as a dietetic technician while completing her coursework to become a Physician Assistant. 💙

Rebekah earned her degree in History and will continue studying at Columbus State throughout the summer. She plans to study psychology and may pursue an additional associate degree before transferring to a four-year university. 📚

Both students completed their junior and senior years as full-time Columbus State students and had the opportunity to walk in the college’s graduation ceremony earlier this month.

Congratulations to these amazing young women! We are so proud of their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments, and we cannot wait to see all they achieve in the future. ✨
