Patagonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue sent a Type 6 engine and a tactical tender on a mutual aid request from SEFD to assist with a grass fire on Lower Elgin Road.

With current Red Flag conditions, we are asking everyone to please avoid any sparks or using fire outdoors. Dry conditions and strong winds can cause fires to spread rapidly.

Thank you for helping keep our communities safe. 🔥

Saturday morning training with PVFR 🚒

Our volunteers spent the morning discussing and walking the Patagonia fire break while going over game plans and preparedness efforts for the upcoming fire season. Trainings like these help keep our crews ready to respond and protect our community when it matters most.

Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers who continue to show up and put in the work for Patagonia and the surrounding areas. 🇺🇸🔥

There was a brush fire reported at Milepost 17 on Hwy 82 around 11:00 today. The fire was initially extinguished by a passerby, and after being dispatched, PVFR arrived on scene and fully extinguished the area to ensure there were no remaining hot spots.

With the extremely dry conditions across our area, please help do your part to prevent wildfires. If you are towing a trailer, make sure safety chains are secured and not dragging, as even a small spark can quickly start a fire. Please also use caution with outdoor equipment, campfires, and anything else that could create sparks or heat.

Thank you to the passerby who acted quickly, and thank you to our community for helping keep our area safe. 🚒🔥

Flux Canyon Road (Forest Road 812) will be closed for the next 2–3 weeks from the junction of FR 215/FR 812 to the south end of FR 812. Visitors will encounter a chain and road-closed sign at the FR 215 turn, and another road-closed sign at the Coronado National Forest entrance on the north end.

This temporary closure is in place for public safety while Arizona Standard conducts drilling associated with the approved Sunnyside Exploration Drilling (55719) project. https://usfs-public.app.box.com/v/PinyonPublic/folder/158225821219

As temperatures continue to rise, snakes are becoming more active throughout our area. 🐍 Please stay alert when working outdoors, hiking, walking pets, or around wood piles, rocks, and tall grass.

The photos below were shared by a community member who encountered this snake skin while walking his dog at the town park — a good reminder that wildlife is active even in areas we visit every day.

If you come across a snake:
• Keep your distance
• Keep children and pets close
• Never attempt to handle or disturb it

Most snakes will avoid people if left alone. Stay safe and enjoy the warmer weather responsibly!
