Earlier today, fire and EMS agencies from throughout the region responded to a significant Hazardous Materials / Mass Casualty Incident in Burrillville, working alongside East Burrillville Fire Department units to provide patient care, hazardous materials mitigation, decontamination, water supply, and additional operational support.

As a result of the incident, five patients were transported to area hospitals for further evaluation and observation due to injuries, while numerous additional individuals were evaluated outside of the facility by EMS personnel.

Incidents involving hazardous materials can quickly become extremely complex and have the potential to impact a significant number of people. The rapid identification of the hazardous materials involved, combined with the quick recognition of the need for additional resources, allowed specialized teams, EMS units, and fire companies to be requested early and begin working toward controlling the situation.

The tremendous cooperation between all agencies involved was instrumental in bringing this incident under control and, most importantly, ensuring the safety of countless others who could have potentially been affected.
Pascoag Fire Department units responded with Engine 44 and Rescue 4, joining an extensive mutual aid response that included:

• West Glocester Rescue
• Douglas Rescue
• Smithfield Rescue
• Cumberland Paramedic Unit 2
• Lincoln Rescue 2, Engine 8, and Ladder 5

• North Scituate Rescue
• North Providence Rescue
• Millville Tanker
• North Smithfield Tanker
• East Putnam Engine
• Woonsocket HazMat Team
• East Providence HazMat Decontamination Team
• Providence Canteen

We cannot say enough about the professionalism, teamwork, communication, and tremendous assistance provided by every department and agency involved. Large-scale incidents such as this demonstrate exactly why strong mutual aid partnerships are so important to the fire and emergency medical services.

From the initial crews who recognized the hazards and immediately began requesting the appropriate resources, to the EMS personnel evaluating and treating patients, the specialized HazMat and decontamination teams mitigating the hazard, and the firefighter's supporting operations throughout the incident—everyone involved played an important role in ensuring this incident was handled safely and effectively.

Outstanding work by East Burrillville Fire Department and every mutual aid agency involved in today’s response. This was truly a team effort and an excellent example of departments coming together when their communities need them most.

[8/27/26 1205pm] Engine 479 is currently stationed at Pascoag Fire Department, assisting with fire coverage for the Town of Burrillville while local crews operate at a long-duration incident elsewhere in town.

Mutual aid coverage helps ensure communities continue to have emergency response resources available while neighboring departments are committed to major incidents.

Earlier today, Pascoag Fire Department units were dispatched for a reported boat fire on the water with a full tank of fuel on board.

Incidents like these can present a number of unique challenges, including limited access, available resources, the number of people involved, and, most importantly, the safety of everyone on and around the water. Our crews responded without delay and were able to quickly bring the fire under control and extinguish it.

While we are proud of the work of our firefighters, the real purpose of this post is to recognize the incredible actions of our community.

Before and during our arrival, members of the community stepped up without hesitation to help ensure the occupants of the vessel made it safely off the water. Others assisted by providing our apparatus and crews with the access needed to reach the incident and operate effectively.

Today was another reminder of what makes our town so special. When someone needed help, neighbors and community members didn’t hesitate—they simply stepped up and did what needed to be done.

We are incredibly grateful and honored to serve a community filled with people who look out for one another, especially when it matters most.

Great work by our crews, but truly outstanding work by the members of our community who helped bring this incident to a safe conclusion.

🚒 Celebrating 250 Years of America & 139 Years of Service 🚒

This Independence Day, the members of the Pascoag Fire Department proudly join our nation in celebrating a historic milestone—the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.

For a quarter of a millennium, our nation has stood as a symbol of freedom, resilience, and opportunity. As we reflect on the sacrifices and achievements that have shaped our country since 1776, we are reminded of the importance of community, service, and patriotism.

This year also marks another milestone close to home: 139 years of service by the Pascoag Fire Department. Since 1887, generations of dedicated members have answered the call to protect life and property in our community. We are honored to continue that tradition today and grateful for the support of the residents we proudly serve.

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate this holiday weekend, we ask everyone to do their part to keep our community safe:

🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals and follow all local laws.
🔥 Never leave grills, fire pits, or cooking equipment unattended.
🚗 If you're celebrating, designate a sober driver and never drive impaired.
🚨 Keep emergency vehicles and personnel in mind when traveling.
🏊 Always supervise children around water and wear life jackets when appropriate.
🌡️ Stay hydrated and take precautions during periods of hot weather.

👨‍🚒🚒 Happy Father’s Day from the Pascoag Fire Department! 🚒👨‍🚒

Today, we celebrate all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, father figures, and mentors who keep their families running smoothly—often with the same determination firefighters use to handle emergencies.

Whether you're teaching life lessons, fixing things that may or may not actually be broken, mastering the grill, or telling the same dad jokes for the hundredth time, today is your day.

Here at the firehouse, we know dads have a lot in common with firefighters:
🔥 They respond when they're needed.
🔥 They always seem to know when something is wrong.
🔥 They can fall asleep almost anywhere.
🔥 And they somehow manage to solve problems using zip ties, duct tape, and confidence.

To all the dads in our department and throughout our community, thank you for your dedication, guidance, and sense of humor. We hope your day is filled with family, relaxation, and at least a few laughs—even if they're from your own jokes.

And remember: today is the one day of the year when everyone has to laugh at your dad jokes. It's practically the law.

This Memorial Day, the members of the Pascoag Fire Department pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage and dedication to protecting the freedoms we enjoy each day will never be forgotten.

In preparation for Memorial Day, members of our department have spent time placing flags at the gravesites of past Pascoag firefighters and veterans as a sign of remembrance, respect, and gratitude for their service to both our community and our nation.

As the years pass, we want to ensure that no member of our fire department family is ever overlooked. If you know of a former Pascoag firefighter or member who has passed and may not currently be included in our records, we kindly ask that you reach out to us so we can add them to our list and continue to properly honor and remember them each Memorial Day.

Their service mattered. Their sacrifice matters. And their memory will always remain part of the Pascoag Fire Department family.
