HYDRANT FLUSHING NOTICE

The Clear River Water Department will be conducting hydrant flushing from Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

We understand customers are continuing to observe the partial outdoor water use ban and appreciate your patience during this necessary maintenance work. Hydrant flushing is essential to maintaining water quality, removing sediment from water mains, testing hydrants for emergency use, and ensuring the overall reliability of the water system.

During flushing, some customers may experience temporary water discoloration. If this occurs, please wait until after 3:00 PM, then:
• Run outside faucets first
• Remove faucet screens/aerators indoors
• Run cold water until it clears

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation as we continue working to keep Clear River’s water system safe and reliable.

Questions? Please contact our office at 401-568-6222.

We've received a few calls about cloudy water today. Well 7 drew down a little too low which introduced some air into the system. Adjustments on the system have been made to prevent this from happening in the future. Water techs have opened some hydrants to get the air out of the system. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have this cleared up shortly.

You may be seeing these trucks in the neighborhood lately. CREW has jointly owned poles with Verizon. Verizon has hired Osmose to inspect all poles that they have attachments on.

Osmose will inspect all wood utility poles for structural integrity, decay, and damage to ensure safety and reliability. Poles are then treated or marked for reinforcement/replacement based on their remaining strength.

Osmose will check each pole for decay and insect damage at the groundline – this is where the pole enters the dirt, and they may apply chemical treatments to prevent or stop rot. Osmose will dig 18”-24” below to check for damage, and may also drill holes into the pole to inspect the wood shavings for decay and damage. If the pole is weak or damaged, they may install a steel device (those are the brown devices on the bottom of the pole) this will help strengthen the pole for a few more years.

If you have any questions, please call our office at 401-568-6222. Thank you!
