Last week we celebrated phase ups for several of our participants! Creating sustained and lasting change is a messy, painful, and challenging process. It requires dedication, patience, and remaining focused on your goals. These participants have done just that. Great job everyone!

May was an incredibly busy month for Therapeutic Court!

*We attended a fundraising gala for Columbia Basin Veterans Center. For those who don't know, our Therapeutic Court will now include a Veterans specific track to serve Franklin County's veterans who are involved in the justice system.
*We hosted a graduation of an amazing participant who got his family back while in the program!
*Alongside our colleagues from Benton County and Grant County we traveled to hear Ryan Leaf share his recovery story.
*We attended Mirror Ministries' fundraising gala. An organization that does incredibly impactful work supporting survivors of trafficking.
*We co-hosted a scavenger hunt for our participants to socialize and engage in sober activities!
*Our coordinator Alyssa and Benton County Drug Court's coordinator Kim attended the Therapeutic Court Alumni Celebration in Yakima. It was amazing to hear everyone's inspirational stories of recovery and to see first-hand how impactful Therapeutic Courts can be.
*Alongside Benton County we were able to engage in Trauma-Informed Motivational Interviewing training.
*We engaged in team building doing our favorite activity.....escape rooms! It should be noted that we didn't rob a bank, those are props!
*Last but not least our case manager Laura got promoted to cheer Captain in court and now has a banner for it and everything!

This week thanks to a grant Franklin County Therapeutic Court received from Washington Courts we were able to participate in Trauma-Informed Motivational Interviewing training from the amazing Institute for Individual and Organizational Change (IFIOC)! Our grant also covered another local District Court participating, Benton County, WA Therapeutic Courts. Since IFIOC generously offered to host this training locally and open it to the public our friends at Benton County, WA Superior Adult Drug Court were also able to register!
We all learned so much from our trainer Casey Jackson! We left feeling prepared to better meet the needs of our participants and to apply the new skills we learned to improve our programs as a whole.
Thank you to all of our partners for making this training possible and for the Columbia Valley Center for Recovery whose beautiful training room we were able to utilize!

Judge Orosco was brainstorming fun ideas for sober activities for our participants and decided on a scavenger hunt! We partnered with our friends at Benton County Adult Drug Court to host this for both our courts. Our participants were able to explore the community together, finding resources and making new friends. Alyssa and Laura even completed some of the tasks! Thank you to the Drug Court team for all their work on this first annual scavenger hunt!

For National Police Week we want to show appreciation for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office who has been dedicated to supporting our Therapeutic Court since the beginning. Our Sheriff’s Office goes above and beyond to help us in any way they can, something that not all therapeutic courts are fortunate enough to have. As a part of that support they’ve designated the amazing Deputy Rogers as our liaison for Therapeutic Court. Deputy Rogers is perfect for this role. He truly cares about every participant, making sure they feel seen and valued. As a teammate Deputy Rogers brings his unparalleled sense of humor, respect, and loyalty. We truly can’t say enough good things about this wonderful man and Deputy!

This past weekend we were able to attend the annual Mirror Ministries gala alongside our colleagues! Mirror Ministries does amazing work within our community supporting survivors of s*x trafficking. Their work has helped several of our participants get back on their feet and receive the services they needed. It’s amazing to see the change that is possible when we come together as a community to support people!

Last week two of our alumni came to our graduation to support their friend who was graduating. It’s amazing to watch the powerful connections made within Therapeutic Court because recovery is not a solo journey! One of our alumni even agreed to speak about his recovery journey and life since graduating from Therapeutic Court. We are so proud of our graduates and all they have accomplished! Therapeutic Court doesn’t end at graduation ❤️

Huge shoutout to all our amazing colleagues and community partners who support our graduations and our program! We appreciate you all!

The one where Franklin County takes a road trip to Moses Lake! Yesterday, we had the privilege of joining Benton County, Grant County, and numerous treatment providers to discuss recovery and mental health. Grant County also hosted Ryan D Leaf to share his inspiring story of recovery and lead the discussion!
