The Franklin County Mosquito Control District is experiencing an abnormal number of adult mosquitoes in West Pasco. With current river levels there is flooding in the Yakima River Deltas and Bateman Island creating mosquito breeding habitat. Until the river recedes the District will be performing ground adulticiding in the area to try reduce the number of adult mosquitoes.

If you are going to be outside please use FDA approved mosquito repellents containing DEET or Picaridin to reduce the likelihood of being bitten. For more information please visit our webpage regarding repellents.

Products containing DEET currently are available to the public in a variety of liquids, lotions, sprays, and impregnated materials. Its that time of year again, Franklin County Mosquito Control District is now accepting applications for the 2021 season. Must be 18 years of age, and have a driver's license. Season starts in May and typically ends in September. Click on the link to fill out an application today.

The Franklin County Mosquito Control District has detected its first positive West Nile virus pool of mosquitoes in Franklin County Washington. The mosquitoes tested were trapped in the Basin City area. District staff are making every effort to protect the health and welfare of Franklin County residents against the spread of West Nile virus.

Please take precaution if you must be outside at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active, make sure to wear a long sleeve shirt and pants as well as a CDC approved mosquito repellent. If there are questions or concern, please contact the District at (509) 545-4083.

We'll be flying over the Yakima / Columbia River deltas, Bateman Island, Columbia Point and Two Rivers Parks tomorrow morning, treating the water with granules of Bti. Should be done by 11AM.
