This is a very important message from the Jackson County Election Commission with regard to voting in upcoming CONGRESSIONAL MIDTERM ELECTIONS in March of 2026!
Pay close attention!!!
Understanding the Voter Roll Update Cards
The Jackson County Election Commission is sending out over 16,000 “Voter Confirmation Cards” (see picture below) as required by the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office. These cards ARE LEGITIMATE and are sent from the Jackson County Election Commission. This process is part of a statewide effort to keep voter rolls accurate and up to date.
The following means were used to identify persons whose voter registration MAY need to be confirmed or updated:
👉🏽 The National Change of Address (NCOA) information from the United States Postal Service to identify voters who have moved. This method has been used for years.
New methods imposed this year:
👉🏽 The Mississippi Secretary of State's Office has partnered with Experian®, a credit reporting agency, to receive commercial data.
👉🏽 The Social Security Death Master File to help supplement the existing processes to identify voters who have passed away.
Here’s what you need to know:
Why You Received a Card
• The card is official and was sent to you because your voter registration record may need to be confirmed or updated.
• This can happen for simple reasons: like you moved, changed your name, or haven’t voted in several elections.
• The goal is to make sure every registered voter’s address and status are current before upcoming elections.
What You Should Do If You Receive A Voter Roll Update Card
• Check the information on the card carefully. If you return the confirmation card and state you have not moved, you will be returned to “Active” status at your current address.
• If something is wrong or outdated, correct it before returning the card.
• If you’ve moved within the county of your current registration and return the confirmation card, your voter registration address will be updated to your new address within the county.
• If you do not return the card, you will remain on the voter rolls as an “Inactive” voter through two federal general elections. An “Inactive” voter who goes to vote on election day will still be given the opportunity to vote by affidavit ballot.
• Be sure to sign the card and mail it back (postage has already been paid).
‼️ By state and federal law, changes must be done before December 10, 2026 to be properly registered to vote at the correct precinct in the upcoming March 2026 Congressional Midterm Elections.
What Happens if You Don’t Respond
• If you don’t return the card, your status will be changed to “inactive.”
• You can still vote, but you’ll have to vote by affidavit at the polls.

Glaskox said it is important to fill out and return the cards. If not, it could impact you the next time you go to the polls.
