Our office has been fielding calls this week concerning weather radios after the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Mississippi partnered with our office and facilitated the Pascagoula Chevron-funded giveaway of 150 weather radios. The event was 'sold out' the first day. Great job to everyone who made it happen for Jackson County.

While there are certainly cheaper models on the market available online, the highest recommended radio is the Midland brand and models of weather radios. Prices generally range from $30-$100, depending on the features of the radio. The specific models to look for are:

Basic and budget friendly:
πŸ“» Midland ER10VP
πŸ“» AM/FM radio and NOAA weather alerts
πŸ“» very portable and pocket friendly with lanyard
πŸ“» flashlight with high, low, and SOS strobe options

For inside your home:
πŸ“» Midland WR120B
πŸ“» alerts for 60 kinds of weather hazards and emergencies
πŸ“» programmable alerts from up to 25 different counties

For inside a larger space or small office:
πŸ“» Midland WR400 (all features of the WR120B plus)
πŸ“» alarm clock with snooze button and AM/FM radio
πŸ“» choice of siren, voice, or LED light alerting
πŸ“» USB charger for cellphones and small devices

For outside your home:
πŸ“» Midland ER310
πŸ“» solar Panel, Hand Crank, & Rechargeable Battery
πŸ“» AM/FM radio with antenna and weather (WX) band channels
πŸ“» ultrasonic dog whistle to help locate you in emergencies

For outdoors with hand crank power and cell phone charger:
πŸ“» Midland ER310PRO (all features of the ER310 plus)
πŸ“» can be used as Bluetooth speaker
πŸ“» SOS flashlight beacon to help locate you in emergencies
πŸ“» temperature display

These models of radios are typically found at online stores such as Amazon or Walmart.
