DID YOU KNOW? Beginning May 7, 2025, only state-issued driver license (DL) and identification (ID) cards that are fully compliant with the REAL ID Act will be accepted for official federal government purposes, such as entering secure federal buildings or boarding domestic flights.

In Texas, 98 percent of DLs and IDs are REAL ID compliant. Wondering if your DL is compliant? Check for the gold star in the upper right-hand corner of your license. If you see that gold star, you have a REAL ID compliant card.

Texans without a REAL ID compliant DL/ID can schedule an appointment at their local DL office online at https://public.txdpsscheduler.com/.

DID YOU KNOW? The process to submit medical certificates to DPS for commercial driver license (CDL) and commercial learner permit (CLP) holders is changing.

Starting on June 23, 2025, all medical certificates must be submitted by a physician directly into the national registry. This change will eliminate the need for paper-based submissions and provide faster processing time for medical certificates.
