Yesterday, I visited the Adelanto ICE Processing Center with Rep. Pete Aguilar & Rep. Jimmy Gomez to meet with some of the 150 detainees participating in a hunger strike against unsafe and inhumane living conditions. Their demands are simple: clean drinking water, edible food, and adequate medical care. Yet, Adelanto still refuses to provide basic care and detainees are dying.

I've seen these appalling conditions myself repeatedly, and I have called for Adelanto's closure for a decade. Adelanto must be shut down, once and for all. Until then, we will not stop fighting for transparency, accountability, and humane treatment by Trump’s ICE.

More than 5 million Californians rely on CalFresh to buy groceries, yet Republicans' Big Ugly Bill could cause an estimated 550,000 Californians to lose these benefits because of new burdensome red tape—not because they no longer qualify.

The 1885 Rock Springs Chinese Massacre is one of the most horrific and shameful acts of anti-Asian violence in our nation’s history. And for too long, it's gone unacknowledged.

That’s why today I introduced a resolution recognizing the massacre, condemning efforts to erase or distort this history, and honoring the contributions of Chinese immigrant laborers who have helped build the United States -- despite enduring exploitation, discrimination, and violence.
