Cleveland is a small learning environment with dedicated, highly qualified teachers. Our teachers have specialties and other talents in gardening, visual and performing arts, and technology that contribute to a well-rounded, collaborative environment. This allows Cleveland students to be exposed to an integrated learning environment that helps them make real-world connections when learning new con
cepts. We provide a rigorous Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math based curriculum that addresses the needs of each student. The STEAM theme is integrated throughout all subject areas to add value to the core curriculum and generate motivation and engagement for each student. To further enhance the theme through hands-on learning, we have a dedicated STEAM Lab, Computer Lab, Music Room and Library. Students visit our specialty rooms on a weekly basis. Our partnerships with the science community and Pasadena resources enrich the offerings of our specialty rooms. We are also proud to be partners with Education Through Music - Los Angeles which provides music education from a credentialed music teacher for all of our students, K - 5. Fourth and fifth grade students can choose to participate in band. Cleveland has a focus on community building and leadership development. We take the time to get to know our families so that we can best serve them. By utilizing our site based resources (Family Center, school-based mental health services, Parenting Classes, Adult ESL Classes) and our community partners (East Arroyo Residential Association, Neighborhood Church, Reading Partners, Mother’s Club) we address the needs of our families and provide socio-emotional support to develop our parents to be leaders in our school community and advocates for their children. Cleveland strives to provide a safe, nurturing, patient, encouraging environment for its students and its families. Cleveland is a beautiful school that is newly renovated. We have a new wing that houses a new front office, new Family Center, new classrooms, and our Computer Lab. Outside we have new playground equipment and a community garden. The community garden is an educational space and is used to teach about Earth Science, Health Science and Conservation. At Cleveland, we celebrate learning and community. We organize several events every year to engage our community and showcase our students’ accomplishments. Some events include Science Night, Family Dance - The Spring Fling, The Earth Day Gallery Walk, Game Night, and Carnegie @ Cleveland, a fundraising event featuring our students’ musical performances. Cleveland Elementary School is truly “A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN!”
