Since the Cassini mission to Saturn ended in 2017, The Scientist for a Day contest is now part of NASA's Radioisotope Power Systems program, and is now called the Power to Explore Student Challenge. The 2023-24 writing contest is open to K-12 students in the United States. The contest deadline is February 9, 2024. Good luck to all who participate!

Teachers: If you're having technical problems submitting essays for the 2016-17 Cassini Scientist for a Day essay contest, please keep trying. You should receive a confirmation page with an essay ID # if the essay was submitted successfully. Please make sure you have filled out all of the fields on the entry form. You may submit up to 3 essays per class you teach. We have extended the contest deadline to February 28, 2017 to provide additional time to submit essays that had technical problems being submitted.
