Today, we commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, a dark chapter in world history that must never be forgotten. As the Senator representing the largest concentration of Armenian Americans in California, I had the honor of introducing Senate Resolution 33 to remember this Genocide.

As people around the world gather to honor the martyrs of the Genocide, Armenians in their homeland continue to face ongoing threats at the hands of Turkey and Azerbajian.

I join the Armenian community in calling upon the State Department to take decisive action by ending all U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan, and securing the immediate release of Armenian POWs, detainees, and hostages.

It is also imperative to provide humanitarian assistance for the Artsakh Armenians who have been forcibly displaced from their ancestral homeland.

I stand in solidarity with the Armenian community in its pursuit for justice and lasting peace.

Today, we remember the 1.5 million men, women, and children who perished in the Ottoman Empire's systemic genocide of Armenians.

These painful lessons of the past remind us to speak out against hatred and atrocities anywhere and wherever they occur.

110 years ago, 1.5 million Armenians were arrested, exiled, and killed at the hands of the Ottoman Empire. It was a genocide that was denied for over a century.

Today, we are still seeing persecution and attacks on Armenian communities. I am standing with the Armenian community by joining my colleagues to call for an end to military aid in Azerbaijan, a release of POWs, and more.
