Quite the atypical vertical atmospheric profile from this evening's balloon launch from the office. The red (temperature) and green (dew point) lines close together indicate high moisture levels up to around 21,000 feet with a PW value of 1.39". PW (Precipitable Water) is simply the total amount of water v***r in a vertical column of the atmosphere. This value is around or exceeding the 90th percentile for May 27th. Both of these conditions indicate showers and storms are likely to be efficient rainfall producers, which they have been. This is more indicative of a tropical airmass rather than the typical Plains airmass in late May.

Improvement: East/South Texas, Lower Miss Basin (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi), a bit of the Southeast/Northeast, Hawaii
