This Memorial Day, Manatee County Search & Rescue pauses to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten. As we enjoy the freedoms they fought to defend, we reflect on the cost of that freedom and keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts.

Today, we remember the fallen.Forever in our hearts. Never forgotten. 🇺🇸

As National Search and Rescue Week comes to a close, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who supports Manatee County Search & Rescue.

From our dedicated volunteers and first responders, to our families, community partners, donors, and the citizens we proudly serve — your support makes our mission possible.

For over 25 years, our members have answered the call day and night, responding to emergencies, disasters, missing persons, and community events across Manatee County and beyond. None of this would be possible without the encouragement and trust of our community.

This week celebrates the commitment of Search & Rescue teams across the nation, but it also reminds us why we do what we do: serving others when they need help the most.

Thank you for standing beside us, believing in our mission, and supporting the men and women who volunteer their time to protect our community.
Search. Rescue. Support. Community.

🚨 National Search & Rescue Week 🚨

This week, we recognize the dedicated men and women of Search & Rescue teams across the country who stand ready to respond when our communities need them most.

At Manatee County Search & Rescue, our LMTV plays a critical role in both high water and off-road rescue operations. From flooded neighborhoods during hurricanes to remote areas inaccessible by standard vehicles, this truck allows our team to reach those in need quickly and safely.

Built for rough terrain and severe conditions, the LMTV helps us:
🌊 Navigate high water environments
🛻 Access off-road and hard-to-reach locations
🚨 Transport personnel and equipment during emergencies
🤝 Support our community during disasters and critical incidents

Our members are all volunteer First Responders who dedicate their time, training, and experience to serving others. We are proud to stand alongside Search & Rescue teams nationwide during National Search & Rescue Week.

Thank you to all SAR professionals and volunteers for your commitment, sacrifice, and service.

🐾 National SAR Week: Celebrating Our K9 Heroes! 🐾

As we continue to celebrate National Search and Rescue Week, we want to shine a well-deserved spotlight on some of our most dedicated team members: the K9s of Manatee County Search & Rescue!

When a call comes in for a missing person, time is our greatest adversary. That’s where our K9 partners come in. With noses thousands of times more sensitive than ours, these incredible dogs can clear massive areas of thick Florida brush, track scent trails over tough terrain, and locate individuals in a fraction of the time it would take a human ground crew.

Our K9 teams undergo hundreds of hours of rigorous, year-round training to maintain their proficiency in disciplines like tracking, trailing, air scenting, and human remains detection. They don't do it for a paycheck—they do it for the love of the game, a favorite toy, and the bond with their handlers.

Behind every successful K9 is a dedicated handler who volunteers countless hours to keep these teams mission-ready for Manatee County and our surrounding communities.

Join us in thanking our entire K9 Unit for their tireless dedication to bringing the missing home!

👇 Drop a 🐾 in the comments to show our four-legged heroes some love!

🚨 TRAINING EXERCISE NOTICE 🚨

Residents in the Parrish area may see an increased presence of vehicles and personnel as Manatee County Search & Rescue conducts a scheduled training exercise.

These exercises are critical in helping our members stay prepared to respond quickly and effectively during real-world emergencies and disasters. Training may include search operations, communications, and vehicle movement throughout the area.

There is no danger to the public, and we appreciate your patience and support while our teams continue to train and serve the community.

While everyone sees the successful missions, those saves are built during countless hours of training. Today, we’re shining a light on the incredible team that keeps us ready for anything: our Field Training Officers (FTOs)! 🛠️💪

We are lucky to have a self-sustaining powerhouse of expertise right here. Our team is exceptionally well-rounded because our FTOs have it all covered
:
🏆 National Standards: With our own in-house NASAR Instructors and Evaluators, we can teach and credential our members right here.

🌲 Specialized Disciplines: Each FTO is highly credentialed to instruct in their respective specialties—covering everything from search tactics to K9 tracking, all the way to driving and trailer backing. 🚛🦮

To our FTOs: Thank you for the endless hours you spend mentoring and raising the bar for our unit. And to our entire team: Thank you for always showing up ready to learn and grow. 🧡

We are ready because we train together. Thank you for your dedication to bringing the lost home! 👋🌲

Behind the orange shirt and the specialized gear are ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things. 🧑‍🚒🪖

The Manatee County Search & Rescue team is made up of roughly 50 dedicated individuals. Every single one of them is a volunteer, and they all share a common thread: they are either currently employed or retired from the First Responder or Military sectors.

Even after retiring or off the clock from their day jobs, their drive to serve the community never stops. They give up their nights, weekends, and holidays at a moment's notice to look for your loved ones.

Thank you to our incredible members for your endless dedication! 🙌

Did you know just how big our backyard is? 🗺️🔍

Manatee County SAR’s operational territory spans 894.8 square miles.

That breaks down to:

- 742.8 square miles of land (woods, agricultural land, and urban areas)

- 152 square miles of water Covering this much ground for a population of over 450,000 residents requires strategy, intense training, and specialized equipment.

When someone goes missing in Manatee County, our volunteers are ready to navigate every single square mile to find them.
