🏛️ A Piece of Parma History Will Be Opened for the First Time in 50 Years!

In 1976, as Parma celebrated its 150th anniversary and our nation celebrated its Bicentennial, a time capsule was buried in front of City Hall with instructions to open it in 2026.

Now, 50 years later, that day has arrived.

Join us on Saturday, June 6 at 1:00 PM at Parma City Hall as we reveal the contents of this historic time capsule and take a look back at what life in Parma was like a half-century ago.

As we celebrate Parma’s Bicentennial year, this is a unique opportunity to connect with our city’s past while looking ahead to its future.

I hope you’ll join us for this special moment in Parma history.

As Parma celebrates its bicentennial, the Stearns Homestead barn replica set is a great way to honor a special piece of our city’s history.

Created through a partnership involving Old Brook High School, the Parma Area Historical Society, and Brixilated, this project is a creative tribute to the Stearns Homestead and to 200 years of Parma.

It was an honor to see the City of Parma recognized with a commendation on its bicentennial on behalf of Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

As we continue celebrating 200 years of Parma throughout 2026, recognitions like this are a meaningful reminder of our city’s history, strength, and the pride so many people have in this community. It is always special to see Parma acknowledged for the legacy it has built and the future it continues to shape.

This bicentennial year is about more than just marking a milestone. It is about honoring the people, neighborhoods, families, businesses, and community spirit that have made Parma what it is today.

Proud of our city. Proud of our history. Proud to be part of Parma’s bicentennial year.

Congratulations to the Cuyahoga Community College baseball team on a tremendous season.

It was great to see the team recognized at council after winning the OCCAC Division II conference title and advancing to the NJCAA Region XII Championships. A great accomplishment and a season Parma can be proud of.

Today was cake day at the senior center, and it was another great visit filled with conversation, laughter, and community.

I was glad to be joined by Ward 5 Councilman Alan Divis, and we also started a new tradition by raffling gift cards. Special thanks to the Parma Area Chamber of Commerce and Jerry Kuhn’s KWIK Car Wash for helping make the raffle extra special for the residents.

Thank you to Director Lally and the staff for the wonderful work they do every day. The Donna Smallwood Activities Center is a very special place in our community.

The Parma Police Memorial Garden is a powerful and lasting tribute to the officers who gave their lives in service to our community.

As President of Parma City Council, I’m proud to see this memorial stand as a place of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude. It is a solemn reminder that the sacrifice of our fallen officers will never be forgotten.

Announced 18 months ago, the Parma police department memorial garden is nearly completed with the city hosting a recent dedication ceremony.
