City of Parkville Suspends Flock Camera Program

"We appreciate the residents who participated in our recent public meetings and shared their questions and concerns about the City’s use of Flock cameras. The primary concern raised was not with the Parkville Police Department, but with how data generated by Parkville’s cameras may be accessed or shared outside our community.

Those concerns deserve clear and complete answers. As a result, we are turning off the cameras – effective immediately – and suspending our Flock Safety system. We believe temporarily deactivating the cameras while we gather additional information is the appropriate step.

This is not a determination that Parkville’s system has been misused; it is an opportunity to ensure the safeguards, accountability and oversight associated with the technology are addressed."

🇺🇸 We Remember September 11, 2001

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders, service members and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, we remember those lost in New York City, at the Pentagon and aboard Flight 93, while honoring the families, survivors and countless others forever impacted by that day.

Here in Parkville, a tangible piece of that history is on display at City Hall. Our “America’s 250th” Military Exhibit includes a piece of the Pentagon from September 11, 2001. The Pentagon attack claimed 184 lives that morning.

We invite residents to visit the exhibit, which honors our local veterans and our nation’s history and will remain on display through the end of the year.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🚧 2026 Curb & Sidewalk Project Starting Soon 🚧

The City of Parkville’s 2026 Curb & Sidewalk Project is expected to begin next week, with improvements planned at dozens of locations throughout the City.

The project includes removing and replacing sections of:
• Curb and gutter
• Sidewalk
• ADA-accessible ramps

INCO USA LLC has been awarded the contract and will complete the work. Residents may see crews working at various locations throughout Parkville as the project progresses.

What affected property owners should know:

The Contractor will notify adjacent property owners at least 24 hours prior to work starting.

Crews are scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

While the contract allows for 90 calendar days, the City anticipates the work will be completed by mid-October.

Please use caution around active work zones and thank you for your patience as we make these improvements throughout Parkville!

Today, we recognize Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the certification of the 19th Amendment on August 26, 1920, which prohibited denying the right to vote on the basis of s*x.

Women’s Equality Day is an opportunity to recognize the generations of women who worked to expand voting rights and to celebrate the many contributions women continue to make in our communities and across the nation.

Today, we honor that history and the ongoing importance of equal opportunity and civic participation for all.

Parkville Days starts today!

Downtown Parkville and English Landing Park will be full of activity all weekend for Parkville Days, hosted by Main Street Parkville

There’s a lot happening in and around our parks, including:

🎶 Live music at the McKeon Stage in English Landing Park
🎡 Evans Midland Empire Carnival
🛍️ Arts, crafts, food and specialty vendors
🚁 Helicopter rides from Grigsby Field
🏃 Family Sports Fest on Saturday from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. in English Landing Park
🐾 Platte Landing Park, including Barkville Dog Park will remain open all weekend
🥒 Parkville Farmers Market Saturday from 7 a.m.–Noon
🎉 Parkville Days Parade Saturday at 10 a.m.

A heads-up for Saturday morning: Road Closures begin at 9 a.m. for the parade, so expect delays until approximately noon.
