This morning, 1/27/26, at approximately 6:15 AM, Parks Volunteer Fire Department was paged out to a reported barn fire with animals inside near the 5100 block of Bridge Street Highway. Despite the cold temperatures and road conditions, members of Parks VFD responded quickly and efficiently.
Crews from Parks Volunteer Fire Department, Henderson Fire Department , Coteau Holmes Vol. Fire Dept, Catahoula Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Breaux Bridge Volunteer Fire Dept., and Cecilia Fire Department worked together to extinguish the fire. Thanks to the fast response and teamwork, the fire was brought under control and, most importantly, no animals were injured.
With the colder weather, we urge everyone to use caution when using heat lamps, space heaters, and other heating devices in barns, homes, and around animals. Make sure all heating equipment is properly secured, kept away from flammable materials, and never left unattended. A few extra safety steps can help prevent fires and protect lives, both human and animal.
