Friends of the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library

Do you really love your library? Then maybe you should look into joining the Friends of the Library. We are looking for new members who want to help us improve the local library. The Friends currently have an ongoing book sale on the bottom floor of the Emerson branch. The sale is on Wednesday from 12-2 and the second Saturday of the month f

rom 11-1. The proceeds from the book sales provide financial support to the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library by helping to sponsor the Young Readers' Summer Program, buying new materials, furniture, and computer equipment, and supporting the WV Library Association and the Literacy Volunteers of the Mid-Ohio Valley. For more information on the Friends of the Library please see the By-Laws, or contact the Library at 420-4587. If you would like to become a member of the Friends, please visit the Library and fill out a registration form. Annual membership dues are $2 per person and $5 for a family.

Early voting in WV has ended. If you have not voted yet, please remember to vote on Tuesday, May 12. The polls will be open 6:30am to 7:30pm. Please vote yes for the library renewal levy so that we can keep having many wonderful services and programs at the library. EVERY VOTE COUNTS!

Have you seen Barnabus the Bookmobile somewhere in the community or just driving on the road? Barnabus visits several schools, Headstarts, Senior High rises, and after school programs. Barnabus even makes trips to Rockport and Waverly. Many people who may not be able to visit the library still have access to books because Barnabus visits them where they live. If you love the library and Barnabus, please vote YES for the renewal library levy on May 12.
