At 615 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 8 miles south of Caldwell to near Athens.
Movement was east at 50 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Athens, Marietta, St. Marys, Beverly, Chesterhill, Vienna,
Williamstown, Paden City, Sistersville, Belmont, Boaz, Newport,
Matamoras, North Hills, Lowell, Macksburg, Amesville, Friendly, Lower
Salem, and Stroud Run State Park.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 180 and 186. Interstate 77 in Ohio between mile markers 1 and 17.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for southeastern Ohio...and northern and northwestern West Virginia.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northeastern Meigs County in southeastern Ohio... Northern Jackson County in northwestern West Virginia...
Wirt County in northwestern West Virginia... Southwestern Wood County in northwestern West Virginia...

* Until 515 PM EDT.

* At 211 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Elizabeth, Racine, Forked Run State Park, Ravenswood, Sandyville, Chester, Rockport, Morristown, Peewee, Belleville, Reedsville,
Portland, Palestine and Cherry.

This includes Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 146 and 169.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

At 604 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Pomeroy, moving northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Coolville, Tuppers Plains, Lubeck, Washington, Chester, Darwin,
Little Hocking, and Blennerhassett.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

- Scattered showers and thunderstorms increase in activity this afternoon and evening. Heavy rain is expected within heavier showers and thunderstorms, with additional rainfall totals of 1-2" possible today in some areas. Rivers, creeks and streams across portions of the area are running high given the recent rainfall, and could flood with more heavy rain.
