* WHERE...Southeastern Athens County in southeastern Ohio...

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Some roads
remain closed due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 235 AM EDT, emergency management reported that between 1 and
3.5 inches of rain fell in the warned area on Saturday. Lingering
high water remains in some locations.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Parkersburg, Marietta, Belpre, Racine, Forked Run State Park,
Vienna, Ravenswood, Williamstown, Lubeck, Washington,
Mineralwells, Boaz, North Hills, Blennerhassett, Davisville,

thunderstorms. Widespread flooding is already occurring in the
Parkersburg area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.

Many areas of Wood County are flooded due to the heavy rain. This includes the I-77/RT 50 Interchange, Staunton Ave/Mary St, Pike St/Gihon Rd and Harris Hwy/Lake Washington Rd. We are working with DOH and local agencies to get signage up and close the roadways. Please DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH HIGH WATER. Do not drive around barricades.

* At 1041 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.

Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

A cluster of heavy showers producing rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches
per hour will continue to shift slowly to the east southeast this
evening.

Locations impacted include...
Parkersburg, Belpre, Pomeroy, Elizabeth, Racine, Grantsville, Coolville, Rutland, Forked Run State Park, Ravenswood, New Haven, Mason, Sandyville, Mineralwells, Washington, Tuppers Plains, Lubeck,
Middleport, Chester, and Syracuse.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 144 and 177. Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 18.

Heavy rain may cause ponding of water on roadways and flooding in low-lying areas.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain.

Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

At 1201 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near St. Marys to near Forked Run State Park.
Movement was east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Parkersburg, Harrisville, St. Marys, Elizabeth, Forked Run State
Park, Pennsboro, Belmont, West Union, Mineralwells, North Bend State
Park, Lubeck, Newport, Chester, Ellenboro, Cairo, Reedy, Pullman,
Alma, Cherry, and Smithville.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 151 and 179.
Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 6 and 62.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
