Free Community Collection Event today in Mountwood Park today from 8am until noon. Collecting paint, 10 tires off the rim with WV ID, scrap metal, non-refrigerant appliances, gently used clothes, unopened medical supplies and gently used medical equipment.
NO TV's, computers or medications will be accepted!

🌎 Leave No Trace: Pack It In, Pack It Out 🌿
Did you know that the trash we leave behind can stick around for decades—or even centuries?
Here’s how long some common items take to decompose:
🧻 Paper towel: 2–4 weeks
🍎 Apple core: ≈ 2 months
🚬 Cigarette butt: 10–12 years
🛍 Plastic bag: 10–20 years
🥤 Aluminum can: 80–200 years
🥤 Plastic bottle: 400+ years
🍼 Glass bottle: 1 million years (basically forever!)
Every piece of trash we leave behind impacts wildlife, pollutes water, and takes away from the beauty of our natural spaces.
💚 Simple rule:
👉 If you bring it with you, take it back out with you.
Let’s all do our part to keep our parks, trails, and communities clean—for today and for the future.

Special thanks to the Department of Environmental Protection Youth Environmental Program for sharing watershed information with campers. Also talked about litter control and the 4R's reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle

Friends....We appreciate your dedication to recycling.
BUT.......
Please don't leave material outside our facility like this.
Each time this happens it cuts into our budget for labor. I know it doesn't seem like much, but when it happens multiple times it adds up. Without cooperation, our programs are jeopardized. We have posted hours for recycling metals. Please adhere to these hours. And please don't block the accessibility to others like this. ♿
