Residents may place up to two bulky items out for collection on their normal collection day during the third full week of each month.

Customers must call Waste Management at 800-593-9529 to notify them and schedule bulky items for collection.

We ask pedestrians to avoid areas where crews are actively working. This helps protect both pedestrians and the personnel completing the work. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed.

Crews are currently working around the pond and baseball fields and will move around the park in the coming days.

The City of Parkersburg is hiring a Medium Equipment Operator for the Public Works Department’s Streets Division.

This position performs maintenance and repair work on City streets, alleys and storm sewers. Responsibilities include operating trucks and equipment, hauling materials, completing concrete and asphalt work, installing stormwater pipes and assisting with snow removal.

Applicants must have:
- a high school diploma or GED
- experience operating medium to heavy equipment
- a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.

Holiday Closure Notice

The City of Parkersburg will observe Labor Day on Monday, September 7, in accordance with West Virginia Code §2-2-1.

City offices located in the Municipal Building will close at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, and will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, at 8:00 a.m.

Sanitation services will operate one day behind schedule.
