Week One - Day One of Early Literacy: Unearth a Story — Summer Reading Has Begun!
On Monday, the C.R.I.T. Library Archives kicked off our Early Literacy Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program with a dino‑sized adventure!
Miss Blanca read How Big Were the Dinosaurs? by Bernard Most, sparking big imaginations and even bigger curiosity. After the story, our young readers created their very own dinosaurs—complete with a name, favorite food, age, and hobby. Using colorful tissue paper, each child brought their dinosaur to life in a burst of creativity.
Next, our summer readers explored dino pattern tiles, working hands‑on with shapes like trapezoids, diamonds, octagons, hexagons, and parallelograms. It was a fun way to blend literacy, art, and early math skills.
To wrap up the day, each participant logged their books and selected new reads to take home. Throughout the summer, readers will continue earning prizes and incentives as they grow their love for books.
Here’s to a summer full of stories, imagination, and discovery. Happy Reading!
