Ten Years of Service

Congratulations to Detective Moreno on ten years of dedicated service with the Parker Police Department.

Detective Moreno began his career with Parker Police in 2016 and spent several years serving on the graveyard shift before moving to dayshift in 2024. In 2025, he transferred to the Investigations Unit, where he continues to serve the community as a detective.

Throughout his career, Detective Moreno has taken on numerous specialized assignments, including serving as a member of the Douglas County Regional SWAT Team, a Parker Police Department Designated Marksman, a less-lethal instructor, an active-threat instructor, an Honor Guard member and a fi****ms instructor. He continues to serve in each of these important roles, contributing his expertise to the department and helping prepare fellow officers for a variety of critical situations.

His dedication and professionalism have been recognized with the Parker Police Medal of Honor, the Medal of Meritorious Service, the Lifesaving Medal and numerous other awards throughout his career.

Fire Restrictions Lifted

After consultation with Douglas County Office of Emergency Management and a review of current conditions and the long-range weather forecast, all fire restrictions have been lifted at this time.

Recent weather and favorable forecast conditions have reduced the fire danger that prompted the restrictions. We appreciate the community's cooperation and commitment to fire safety during this period.

While restrictions have been lifted, residents are encouraged to continue exercising caution with any outdoor activities that could create a fire risk. Conditions can change quickly, and responsible fire prevention remains an important part of keeping our community safe.

Thank you for doing your part to help protect Parker and Douglas County.

Help Us Cram the Cruiser This Saturday at Walmart

Join Parker Police officers this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Parker Walmart as we collect donations for our Cram the Cruiser food drive supporting local families in need through the Parker Task Force.

Tomorrow is the last day to donate at our community drop-box locations, including the Parker Police Department, Town Hall, Parker Recreation Center, the Fieldhouse and H2O’Brien Pool. We still need your help supporting local families in need. During the summer months, many children lose access to the school breakfast and lunch programs they rely on throughout the year, placing additional strain on families already facing food insecurity.

We’re asking for donations of non-expired, non-perishable food items to help stock the Parker Task Force food shelves and provide meals for children and families in need.

Today’s the Day! Join Us for Summer Kickoff at H2O’Brien Pool

School’s out, summer is here and the weather couldn’t be better. Join the Parker Police Department today from 1 to 3 p.m. at H2O’Brien Pool for an afternoon of family fun under sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s. Even better, the forecast is holding off on any storms until after the event.

Meet Parker Police officers and members of our emergency communications and crime scene units for interactive activities, hands-on demonstrations and fun opportunities for kids and families. We’ll also have popsicles to help everyone stay cool while enjoying the afternoon.

Our partners from South Metro Fire Rescue will be on hand with summer safety information, hands-only CPR demonstrations and the always-popular Splash Mob to close out the event.

Bring the whole family and kick off summer with us. We look forward to seeing you at the pool!

Cherokee Trail Elementary School Parade

One of our favorite end-of-year traditions rolled through Cherokee Trail Elementary once again.

Parker Police patrol vehicles lined up and paraded through the school parking lot as students and staff gathered outside to wave, cheer and celebrate the last days of the school year. The annual parade is a fun way for our officers to connect with students and help send them into summer with smiles and excitement.

Thank you to Cherokee Trail Elementary for welcoming us each year and allowing us to be part of such a special tradition. We hope all students, staff and families have a safe and wonderful summer break.

Scam Alert

The Parker Police Department has recently received several reports of scammers targeting family members of people who have been arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail.

Here’s how the scam works:

• Scammers find arrest and booking information online
• They use social media, search engines and other public information to locate family members
• They contact relatives claiming money is needed for an inmate’s release, bond, ankle monitor, breathalyzer or other fees
• They pressure victims to send money immediately through methods like Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, wire transfers, cryptocurrency or gift cards

These scams are designed to create panic and take advantage of emotional situations. Real law enforcement agencies and courts will never call and demand immediate payment over the phone for someone’s release from jail.

If you receive a call like this:

• Hang up immediately
• Do not send money or provide personal information
• Verify information directly through official court or jail contacts
• Report the scam to local law enforcement

Please help us spread the word to protect others in our community from becoming victims.

Crisis Intervention Training Award

Please join us in congratulating Officers McMillan, Rodriguez, Strong, Taylor and Young on graduating from Crisis Intervention Training (CIT).

CIT provides officers with specialized training to better recognize and respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises, substance abuse issues and other behavioral health challenges. The training emphasizes communication, de-escalation and connecting people with the resources they need while helping improve outcomes for everyone involved.

We are especially proud of Officer Strong, who received the Adam’s Award in recognition of perseverance, compassion and integrity in Crisis Intervention Training. This award reflects the professionalism and dedication Officer Strong brings to serving our community each day.

Congratulations to all five officers on this important accomplishment and commitment to continued learning and compassionate policing.

Thank You for a Great School Year

As the school year comes to a close, our school resource officers (SROs) are reflecting on the moments that made this year special at Douglas County School District schools. Sometimes it was helping a graduating senior tie his tie before walking across the stage. Other times, it was laughing with students during field day, cheering them on at games, visiting classrooms or simply being there for hallway conversations.

These moments may seem small, but they are what being an SRO is all about: building trust, supporting students and being part of the school community each and every day.

Thank you to all of the students, teachers, staff and families who welcomed our officers into your schools this year. We are proud to serve alongside you and grateful for the relationships built throughout the year.

Thank you to:
• School Resource Officer Sergeant Eckmann
• Officer Iranfar – Legend High School
• Officer Naro – Legend High School
• Officer Faulkner – Cimarron Middle School
• Officer Nevins – Sierra Middle School
• Officer Gwaltney – American Academy Lincoln Meadows
• Officer Santos – American Academy Motsenbocker
• Officers Davison, Friedland, Holmes and Warn – Elementary Schools

To all of our students: congratulations on another successful school year. Have a safe, fun and well-deserved summer break. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next year.

World Hunger Day & Cram the Cruiser

Today is World Hunger Day, a reminder that food insecurity affects families in our community every day, including right here in Parker.

To help support local families, the Parker Police Department is partnering with the Parker Task Force for our Cram the Cruiser food drive from June 1-6. During the summer months, many children lose access to the school breakfast and lunch programs they rely on throughout the year, placing additional strain on families already facing hunger.

We’re asking for donations of non-expired, non-perishable food items to help stock local food shelves and provide meals for children and families in need.

Donation drop boxes will be available June 1-5 at the Parker Police Department, Town Hall, the Parker Recreation Center, the Fieldhouse and H2O’Brien Pool. Officers will also be at the Parker Walmart from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 6 collecting donations.

Every donation helps. Together, we can make a difference for our neighbors facing food insecurity.
