enjoying life and business on the Parker Strip for over 50 years building memories and friendships along the way, its my goal to unite us all with this new page! Enjoying life and business on the Parker Strip (for 38 years to be exact) building many great memories and cultivating many friendships along the way, its my goal and pleasure to unite us all with this new page, “Parker Strip River Memori

es”. I’ve written a book based partly on events that took place while I lived on and around the Parker Strip during the 1980’s; hopefully it will be out this summer. The book is my attempt at the Great American Novel, and is based on the notorious River life of that period. Against the advice of publishers and friends I had decided to put a section of old River pictures in the center of the book. Since a big part of the book takes place on and around House Boat Terry’s houseboat, when it was still docked at Sandy Beach, I was looking for pictures from there, but to date I have found only pictures of the houseboat after Terry moved it to the California side. One day it occurred to me that many people out there must have great memories and pictures from the Parker Strip of “The Good Old Days”, just like me. I thought instead of putting pictures in my book; why not create a page where we could all share our memories, pictures and stories of your fun times on the River. Please feel free to post your own pictures comments, stories, and future River events here for all to remember and enjoy. I’m looking forward to you sharing your memories, tall and short tales, and especially your pictures. Have fun and please keep it clean as this is a family page for all to enjoy. Jim Bob

This picture was taken on the Houseboat when Terry had it at what people now call Sandy Beach. This was before BLM (Bureau of Land Mangement not Black Lives Matters, ha, ha!!!) kicked out and bulldozed all the homes of homesteaders along the River. In the days before they tore down the Compound, destroyed The People's Park and put Pat in jail.
