Today, April 6, marked the start of the Public Works Department’s annual bridge expansion joint cleaning and inspection program. This critical maintenance activity removes accumulated debris, dirt, and de-icing chemicals, ensuring bridge joints function properly and accommodate movement caused by thermal expansion and contraction.

This work will require short-duration lane closures to allow crews to perform their task safely. Inspections are anticipated to complete this week, weather permitting.

Please be mindful of our staff as they work at the following locations:
• Chambers Bridge over Newlin Gulch
• Cottonwood Bridge over Cherry Creek
• Crowfoot Bridge over Lemon Gulch
• Dransfeldt Bridge over Cherry Creek
• Dransfeldt Bridge over Sulphur Gulch
• Hess Bridge over Cherry Creek (completed)
• Mainstreet Bridge over Newlin Gulch
• Pine Lane Bridge over Cherry Creek

Routine cleaning helps prevent structural deterioration by eliminating trapped moisture and protects bearings, beam ends, and concrete substructures from water infiltration and corrosion — ultimately extending the bridge’s lifespan.

Travel Advisory: The Pine Drive/Pine Lane Improvements Project is underway. Find details about this Douglas County-coordinated project in the post below and at https://www.douglas.co.us/public-works/projects/pine-drive-pine-lane/

🚧 Starting at 7 a.m., Monday, April 6, Parker residents will notice an increase in construction activity as crews begin construction on the Pine Drive/Pine Lane Improvements Project. Improvements will be made on Pine Drive and Pine Lane, between Inspiration Drive and Lincoln Avenue, in Parker. 🚧

About the Project

This $13,218,000 project is fully funded by Douglas County and is scheduled to be completed in late summer 2027. The following project improvements will create a safer, more efficient Pine Drive/Pine Lane corridor:

• Increased roadway capacity by adding two additional lanes from north of Lincoln Avenue to north of Pine Lane, creating a total of four travel lanes (two in each direction).

• Improved mobility by installing traffic signals at the Ponderosa Drive/Pine Drive and Pine Lane/Pine Drive intersections.

• Reduced congestion by widening Pine Lane to include a through lane in each direction and a center turn lane, and providing a westbound right-turn deceleration lane at Dixon Drive/Pine Lane.

Construction on the Twenty Mile Road bridge over Sulphur Gulch is progressing on schedule.

The Town of Parker and contractor Jalisco International began work in mid-March on a three-phase bridge rehabilitation project located on Twenty Mile Road, just south of Mainstreet and north of the Target shopping center.

The current phase requires northbound traffic to be shifted to the southbound lanes of Twenty Mile Road. This traffic pattern is in place between the business access roads for the Target shopping center (southern limits) and the Waterford on Mainstreet apartments (northern limits) and will remain in effect for several weeks.

All businesses located near the construction area remain accessible, including the Perfect Blend Company located within the Watermark on Twenty Mile apartment community and Dover Saddlery and Hand and Stone Spa in the Target shopping center, although some temporary modifications have been implemented. Please note these access changes on the map shown below.

Construction is expected to continue into the summer. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. If necessary, crews may also work Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Applications are open for the Veterans Memorial Banner Program at ParkerCO.gov/MemorialBanner.

Each banner will celebrate one veteran, showcasing their name, branch of service and photo. You’ll see these banners proudly displayed on streetlights around Living Wheel Park from about May 1 through July 4, reminding us all of their dedication to our country.

To be part of this program, the honored individual must have served in one of the recognized branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and either died in the line of duty or been honorably discharged before their passing. Priority goes to veterans from incorporated Parker, followed by those in the 80134 or 80138 ZIP Codes.

The cost is $150 per banner, but if you’ve participated before and have a banner in good condition, it’s just $50. This fee covers the design, production, installation and removal of the banner. Banners must be requested and paid for by the immediate family (parents, spouse, children and siblings) of the service member.

Applications are due by end of day Monday, April 13.

Learn about and apply to have your loved one honored in the Town of Parker's new Veterans Memorial Banner Program.
