Victory for democracy and the people of Park Ridge.

It's unfortunate that Bergen County taxpayers are paying the price for the County's/County's lawyer's mistakes, and Fisher's lawyer's misrepresentations to the court regarding the existence of a notary block on the state and county-approved petition form -- there was no such notary block.

Congrats go out to Rosemarie Malloy and Matt Rozzi on being elected to the Park Ridge Board of Education.

Also, a reminder to all residents to continue to remain vigilant against Moms for Liberty-endorsed stealth candidates who promise to "cut your taxes." They cannot be trusted as stewards of our schools' finances, because their goal is to destroy public education.

Here is my husband, Howard's endorsement letter for Park Ridge Council:

Open Letter to the Pascack Press in support of Tommy Greco and Lynda Nettleship-Carraher for Park Ridge Council

Dear Editors:
Park Ridge has seen more than its share of divisive politics on the Borough Council in the past few years. It's time we put a stop to division and return to a greater sense of community cohesion and good judgment by electing Thomas Greco and Lynda Nettleship-Carraher to the Park Ridge Council on November 4th.

Tommy grew up In Park Ridge, attended Park Ridge High School, and eventually moved to NYC, where he operated a successful restaurant business, while starting a family. When the pandemic hit, he opened up another successful restaurant in Park Ridge, eventually relocating his family back to his hometown. Since then, Tommy has served our community admirably as a volunteer for the Recreation Committee and as member of the Planning Board.

Lynda has had an exciting career as a creative visual artist, working in the film and television industry, which is fast-becoming an important growth area for New Jersey jobs, following the introduction of the state's film-ready initiative and the announcement of a new $1 billion Netflix film production facility. At the same time, Lynda has served our community as a member of the Zoning Board and on volunteer committees. She brings an artist's ability to think outside of the box, a highly-valuable skill during challenging times.

Following the successful recall effort against extremist Park Ridge Board of Education Trustee, Robert Fisher, which recently ended with his resignation, it emerged that one of the signatories to Fisher's nominating petition was none other than current Council member and candidate. Bruce Goldsmith. Mr. Goldsmith's support of Fisher, an inexperienced political extremist, who was also endorsed by the nationalist extremist group, Moms for Liberty, calls into question his ability to responsibly represent all residents of Park Ridge.

Greco and Nettleship-Carraher will bring greater unity to our Council, with responsible and forward-looking stewardship, while encouraging preservation of Park Ridge's open spaces, and creating a welcoming environment for all. Vote for Tommy and Lynda on November 4th.

Sincerely,

Howard Fredrics, DMA
Park Ridge

Park Ridge Board of Education Endorsements

With the Recall campaign and resignation of Robert Fisher from the Park Ridge Board of Education behind us, voters must now turn their attention to ensuring that no one with similar extreme views is elected to the Board in November, and that experience and competence, rather than mere promises to "cut your taxes" are the overriding criteria upon which we base our votes.

As a former university professor and lifelong educator, who has served on faculty search committees. I recognize the qualifications that make for an effective Board of Education Trustee. Indeed, there are currently three highly-experienced and competent candidates running.

Rosemarie Malloy will bring a Masters of Education degree, and decades of experience as a middle school and mathematics teacher, as curriculum supervisor, and as personnel and staff development supervisor to bear.

Shanai Jensen holds professional certificates in human resources management and non-profit management and has worked at private and charter schools in development, project management, and enrollment support, as well in teacher and principal recruitment positions. She is committed to maintaining a welcoming environment for all of our students and staff.

Both of these candidates have exactly the type of experience Park Ridge needs on the Board to help it to continue to recruit and retain the best teachers, principals, and superintendents, as well as to ensure that our curriculum is targeted towards the needs of today's students. They truly understand how schools function, and have measurable records of success to back up their extensive preparation.

A third well-qualified candidate, Matthew J. Rozzi, is a registered Independent, who promises non-partisan "balanced, responsible results," has thirty years of budget management and team-building experience in the financial services industry, and has served the community as a local sports coach. He brings a detailed vision for fiscally responsible approach to investing in the future of our schools, so our valuable resources will be well-managed under his leadership.

I truly wish I could vote for all three of these highly qualified and manifestly sane candidates, but as there are only two open seats on the ballot, I will have to make some tough choices between now and Election Day.

Conversely, there are two candidates on the ballot, with close ties to political extremists. Their nominating petition supporters include the extremist nationalist Moms for Liberty Bergen County Chapter Chair, Alexandra Bougher, whose anti-LGBTQ social media posts precipitated her followers' threats of violence against a local Park Ridge church, and who was, apparently recently removed as Girl Scout leader because of her persistent anti-LGBTQ stance. Some of their other nominating petition supporters are closely tied to Mr. Fisher, with several of his original nominators, including a former unsuccessful Moms for Liberty-associated school board and mayoral candidate, as well as the property owner, who created an illegal lease for Mr. Fisher in an effort to maintain his Park Ridge residency counted among their supporters. We certainly don't need more of the same on our Board of Education.

Moreover, neither of these two extremist candidates has the educational background, nor substantial work experience in school settings, and management of large budgets that would render them qualified to serve on the Board. Indeed, both of these candidates have alarming records of personal financial mismanagement resulting in substantial monetary judgments against them, which would call into question their competence in managing school funds. They are simply put, partisan extremists, whom, if elected, would mismanage and gut our school budgets, ban books and create more chaos.

The choice is clear — vote for any two of the three competent and experienced candidates, Rosemarie Malloy, Shanai Jensen, or Matthew J. Rozzi for Park Ridge Board of Education.

(n.b. it's interesting to note that current Council Member and Candidate, Bruce Goldsmith also signed Fisher's nominating petition, along with Misley-Kuiters supporter, Liza Falato-Lau. Hence one can make a good case for their being responsible for Fisher's election).

The people's voice has been heard by the Superior Court and Appellate Division.

Robert Fisher's efforts to stop the Recall Election have failed.

Moreover, he apparently lacks the courage to face the voters in November, and has, instead, stated that he plans to resign from the Park Ridge Board of Education by 5 pm today.

While this is an important victory, our work is not yet done.
We must continue to be vigilant, to work together to ensure that our community never again faces similarly-minded Board members, two of whom are running for open seats this November.

Stay tuned for more info on how to keep Park Ridge free from extremist influences.

Congratulations to the Recall Committee and the signers of the Recall Petition for a job well done!

The Court has spoken, and ordered the recall of Robert Fisher to proceed on November 4th. Moreover, the Judge denied Fisher's second application for stay of the decision, which means Fisher has the following options.
1. Resign to avoid the Recall Election
2. Face the voters in a Recall Election
3. Appeal to the Appellate Division of the Superior Court, challenging the Superior Court's decisions/orders.

We all await what comes next, and are ready to respond accordingly.

Although there are further steps to take, this looks like good news for the voters and children of Park Ridge.

Now, we must all be sure to go out and vote to fullly restore competence to Park Ridge's Board of Education.

Congrats to the Recall Committee and all 2,141 people who signed the petition to recall Robert Fisher.

Superior Court Judge Peter Geiger will allow a bid by Park Ridge voters to recall 20-year-old school board member Robert Fisher from office to proceed on

Appearing in today's Pascack Press.

While it's a good article overall, and I appreciate the opportunity to share my views, I want to be absolutely clear, that contrary to what the article says, I am absolutely *not* a party to the recall appeal court litigation. The article simply gets that wrong.

The decision to void the petition to recall Robert Fisher is an unconstitutional attack against voters' right to recall.

Indeed, IF the law actually requires notarization, which I do not believe it does, it must be overturned by the Court on the grounds that it is void for vagueness, as nowhere in the NJ law does it say that notarization of circulator signatures is required.

Moreover, NJ state-designed and county-approved recall petition forms do not provide a line/space for notary signature, stamp or seal, and do not provide instructions that forms must be notarized.

A review of other states' recall petition forms, reveals that not all states require notarization. The few that do, have clearly-labelled lines and spaces for notary signature, date, seal and stamp.

To wit, saying that NJ law implicitly requires that each page requires an affidavit that is not merely affirmed and signed by circulators, but notarized, without having forms (or the text of the law itself) that provide guidance thereof, implies that laypeople will somehow know that such an affidavit must be notarized.

Even the Bergen County Clerk, the public official required by law to provide guidance to recall organizers, apparently believed that the law does not require notarization. If the law is so vague that public officials can't understand it, then surely it must be overturned on Constitutional grounds.

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Park Ridge BOE Recall Committee Files Appeal to Challenge Reversal That Voids Over 2,100 Voter Signatures
Superior Court Urged to Uphold Constitutional Right to Recall Amid Ballot Deadline
September 10, 2025
PARK RIDGE, NJ – A recall effort to remove Park Ridge Board of Education member Robert Fisher has now reached the Superior Court of New Jersey, following a highly contested decision by the Bergen County Clerk that disqualified over 2,100 valid petition signatures — a move recall supporters say undermines the New Jersey Constitution and the fundamental rights of voters.
The recall committee submitted 2,141 voter signatures, more than 700 above the number of votes Fisher received when he was elected. Initially, the Bergen County Clerk advised via email that the petition pages did not have to be notarized. Acting in good faith, the committee followed these instructions.
However, after Fisher challenged the petition citing the absence of notarization, the Clerk reversed course and upheld his objection, discounting the petition on procedural grounds. The committee argues this reversal, based on misleading official guidance, effectively disenfranchises over 2,100 Park Ridge voters.
“This is more than a bureaucratic misstep — it’s a denial of a constitutional right,” said a spokesperson for the recall committee. “Article I, paragraph 2(b) of the New Jersey Constitution guarantees the right of voters to recall elected officials. To void over 2,100 signatures due to a clerical technicality is to remove that right entirely.”
Legal precedent in New Jersey supports the principle that the will of the voter should not be overturned on hyper-technical grounds, particularly when citizens have acted in reliance on guidance from election officials.
The recall committee has asked the Superior Court to take up the case immediately, noting the urgency due to the imminent ballot printing deadlines for the upcoming election cycle. If the court does not act quickly, voters may be denied the chance to weigh in on Fisher’s performance — which many describe as absent, unaccountable, and disconnected from the needs of Park Ridge students and families.
“This is a time-sensitive matter requiring immediate intervention of the court to ensure that the recall election can appear on this November's general election ballot, and thus to ensure that voters will not be silenced.," the spokesperson continued. "Our application to the court asks the judiciary to uphold the constitutional rights of Park Ridge residents and allow this recall to proceed.
The committee remains confident that the Superior Court will prioritize the case and uphold the democratic principles at stake.
“This is a time-sensitive matter. If the court delays, the recall cannot appear on the ballot — and voters will be silenced,” the spokesperson continued. “We are calling on the judiciary to defend the constitutional rights of Park Ridge residents and allow this recall to proceed.”

Last night the people of Park Ridge, NJ came together to protect our school system. Hundreds of people attended, and every single citizen who was heard spoke out against the personal agenda of Robert Fisher to not attend meetings in person. Every single citizen who spoke also spoke out against the budget freeze, that would function as a budget cut, resulting in the elimination of all extra-curricular activities including PRHS sports and theatre, as well as other detriments, including an increase in the number of students in classes.

Many citizens, including myself, also challenged Robert Fisher’s eligibility to serve on the BOE, since many sincerely believe that he is not a resident of our town. His residency in Park Ridge is now based on a preposterous ten-dollar/month lease of an unpermitted basement.Conversely, not one member of Moms Against Liberty came to speak out in defense of their pledge’s agenda to serve as an elected official from a remote location, and not one of them came out to support the budget freeze that would eliminate all after school activities that make Park Ridge students happy and help them to become well-rounded individuals who will succeed in life.

There was a single heckler who echoed Robert Fisher’s statements by boorishly bullying Park Ridge High School students for allegedly not being admitted to Ivy League Universities. That was the only public support I could perceive for Mr. Fisher, and the only public criticism of our schools. Members of the public yelled back to the boor that he was not from our community.

While I listened to what the heartbreaking results of Mr. Fisher’s plan would be as described by parents, teachers and current students, I couldn’t help but think that if a young James Gandolfini had attended Robert Fisher’s dystopian vision of a dismantled school system with no theatre program, he might never have discovered his love of acting and the people of Park Ridge would not have the source of pride we still gain from Gandolfini’s accomplishments.

In 2023, when I first learned that Robert Fisher was running for BOE, I created my write-in campaign because I believed his policies would be a disaster for our community. The fruition of what he and his accomplices are attempting to do to our schools is turning out to be just as ugly as I predicted, and even more devastating.

Elections have consequences, and we are in this position because many were fooled and others were not paying attention.

Mr. Fisher and Mr. Amitrano’s new campaign materials, say “$50 COULD SAVE YOU $500 ON YOUR PROPERTY TAXES.” That was debunked last night, as the budget freeze would not save the average Park Ridger anything near that amount.

Instead, consider this: if you are engaging in a fraudulent charade to fake residency in our town with a ten-dollar lease, that may constitute election fraud. If you aware that another member of the BOE does not maintain residency, and you work to modify policies in order to facilitate remote attendance, you may be engaging in a conspiracy to commit election fraud. In short, $50 is not going to save anyone $500, but ten dollars just might get you twenty… years.
