As temperatures rise and summer activities increase, the City of Park Hills would like to share a few helpful tips to conserve resources, manage utility costs, and stay prepared throughout the season!

🚿 Conserve Water When Possible
Simple steps like watering lawns early in the morning, fixing small leaks, and limiting unnecessary water usage can help conserve water during the busy summer months.

💡 Help Manage Electric Bills
Summer heat can cause electric usage to rise quickly. Consider:
✔️ Adjusting thermostats a few degrees higher
✔️ Using ceiling fans
✔️ Closing blinds during peak sunlight hours
✔️ Turning off unused lights and electronics

🏊 Pool Filling Reminder
Residents filling swimming pools are encouraged to notify the Utility Department before filling large pools. This helps prevent unnecessary concerns regarding potential water leaks or unusually high water usage.

🌩️ Be Storm Ready
Summer storms can develop quickly. Make sure to:

🌡️ HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT TODAY 🌡️

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our area from Noon until 10:00 p.m. today.

🥵 Heat index values could reach as high as 108 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending time outdoors.

Please take precautions to stay safe:

💧 Drink plenty of water
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings when possible
☀️ Limit time in direct sunlight
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Check on elderly relatives, neighbors, and those who may be vulnerable to heat-related illness
🐾 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle
👕 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
⏰ Schedule outdoor work and activities during the early morning or evening hours when temperatures are lower

Know the warning signs of heat-related illness. If someone shows signs of heat stroke, move them to a cool location and call 911 immediately. Heat stroke is a medical emergency.
