Park City Police Department-Utah The Chief of Police is Wade Carpenter. He became the Chief in 2008.

The Park City Police Department was established in 1884 and has provided law enforcement services throughout the many changes Park City has experienced, from our rich mining past to the world-class multi-seasonal resort we are today. The Police Department is made up of five main divisions: Administration, Investigations, Patrol, Records, and Communications. Within these divisions are 41 full-time

employees, both sworn and civilian, and several part-time employees, including reserve police officers and dispatchers.

If you believe you have property in our custody, contact the evidence custodian at 435-615-5521. Proof of ownership and eligibility to possess the property are required.

Ahead of Prom on May 30th and graduation on June 5th, Park City High School seniors received a powerful lesson about the dangers of impaired driving. With the help of fellow drama students, police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel, students witnessed a realistic mock crash scene depicting the devastating consequences of a drunk-driving accident.
The annual “docudrama” educates students on the serious consequences of underage drinking and driving.

Ahead of Prom on May 30 and graduation on June 5, Park City High School seniors received a powerful lesson about the dangers of impaired driving. On May 28 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Park City Police Department conducted a targeted traffic enforcement operation focused on speeding, seatbelt violations, distracted driving, and crosswalk safety resulting in 55 stops during the 4-hour period.
Motorcycle patrol units were also utilized to better identify drivers using cell phones while operating vehicles.
Our goal is simple: to keep Park City roads safe for everyone. Please slow down, buckle up, stay alert, and put the phone away while driving.

Early this morning, a young American black bear was spotted climbing a tree in the Prospector neighborhood. Officers from the Park City Police Department responded to the scene and located the bear before notifying wildlife officers and biologists with the Utah Department of Natural Resources to assess the situation.

The Park City Fire District also responded with a ladder truck, allowing wildlife officials to safely tranquilize and remove the bear from the tree. The bear will be relocated to a more suitable habitat away from residential areas and busy roadways.

Join us in congratulating Officer Thomas on successfully graduating the demanding 2-week Motor School! This challenging course requires incredible focus, dedication, and perseverance - and your hard work and commitment paid off.
We’d also like to congratulate Officer Coppin for successfully completing Motor Instructor School! Thank you for stepping up to train, mentor, and lead the next generation of motor officers.
