The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office asks our community to keep Deputy Robin Gaines and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Deputy Gaines recently demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness when he entered a burning residence in an attempt to provide lifesaving aid to a citizen trapped inside. During the rescue effort, Deputy Gaines suffered burn injuries and is currently in stable condition in the ICU.

This act of bravery is a reflection of the character Deputy Gaines has shown throughout his law enforcement career. Many in our community may remember that while serving with the Fort Smith Police Department in 2021, Deputy Gaines was seriously injured after being stabbed while helping apprehend a murder suspect. Despite the dangers he has faced, his commitment to protecting and serving others has never wavered.

Deputy Gaines continues to embody the courage, sacrifice, and dedication that define public service. We are incredibly proud to call him one of our own and grateful for his unwavering commitment to the people of Crawford County and the River Valley.

We have seen an outpouring of support from the community, including a GoFundMe fundraiser and a softball tournament being organized to assist Deputy Gaines and his family during this difficult time.

Please join us in keeping Deputy Gaines, his loved ones, and all first responders in your prayers as he continues his recovery.

It has been 13 years since we lost both of these heroic law enforcement officers in our neighboring county. They lost their lives trying to save two people during a sudden flood in southern Scott County. We will not forget their sacrifice and we give our prayers to their families and friends.
